The thing I always say about S2 is that it would've probably been received a lot better if it were called anything other than True Detective. Just a really, really high bar to follow. Even still, it's pretty middling at best.

S3 is kinda worth watching for Dorff, but definitely gets hokey. I'm glad the series seems to have redeemed itself with the new one. We'll see for sure, though — one ep left.

Mrs and I are halfway through this. Some horrific shit is happening to these Australian kid brothers, but it has real Goonies energy. Very compelling viewing. And I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be laughing at the way Australians talk to one another in this, but I find the casual rudeness and insulting very funny.

        Take the dive...

Just finished Season 5 of Fargo. Thought Juno Temple was just outstanding. Everyone in the cast was great, but she really stood out to me.

@jiminstitches we watched that series. It's the right length at 6 episodes. In the end I was glad I watched it, as there aren't many good western shows these days, but I wasn't running to tell others to check it out.

Re the English, Some friends of mine loved it but I couldn't really get into it. I finished it, barely, and not sure I was totally glad. The cinematography at times was great but the oversaturated and sharpened aesthetic killed it for me if I'm remembering right.

maybe too soon to say either way to fully recommend it, but we just started resident alien. From the first few episodes it has a lot of promise and we really like the blunt humor in the writing.

@pechelman first season was really funny. You will get halfway through episode 1 of the 2nd season and realize what i did... Nothing like the first season and not worth your time.

@jiminstitches Great recommendations and I have seen both shows. Godless was a great story, but the hyper realistic videography took me out of the story a bit if that makes sense. Never seen anything shot so crisp and high definition.

The wife and I have been watching at least 2 episodes an evening this past week, found it really good so far, the casual rudeness and insulting is normal for some places over here and also the era that its set in, the young kid acts really really well

If anyone is interested in space, the Apple TV show "For All Mankind" is excellent. It's basically high quality TV drama taking place in the universe of NASA (initially) but in an alternate history where the Russians arrived first on the moon. What is cool is that the writers (who clearly love NASA and the early space exploration history) use this event as a device causing NASA to become a lot more aggressive and risk taking. So this results in more space exploration but also more daring choices in terms of crews, including incorporating female astronauts a lot earlier than in real life. There are key male characters, but also some bad ass female lead roles including a NASA engineer, an astronaut, and an astronaut wife-turned-entrepreneur. I'm loving it.
