I joke, but with some semblance of truth, that we are a shipping company that just so happens to ship clothing. We realised very early on in our genesis that to be good at shipping was key to our success. And we worked hard at being good at it; negotiating good rates, trying just about every global carrier that exists etc etc. we still constantly review what we do.
Bottom line, we get good rates.
And yes, we take a hit on delivery to some countries, bt we make it up on others.

I can certainly attest to your being good at shipping when I receive an item in 4-5 days from you guys and it can take over a week to get something from a few hundred km’s away through our only local option.

Have you guys ever considered taking deposits for seasonal release items? It seems like it would help you gauge the demand for certain items and that way you could offer both Western and Work shirts instead of picking one or the other. It also seems like it would help relieve the whole set your alarm for the release so you don't miss out before its sold out in your size issue too. Im sure you have considered it, and have good reasons not to do it, but I'm wondering what those reasons are?
-
@Travis2375 question that has come up time from time and the answer is always no. Reasons are people changing their minds and backing out, items not coming in time (delayed due to production issues), sizes not being what people wanted, etc.
It’s a great thought, but for all practical reasons, not something that can be done easily and more of a headache than any potential benefit.

@Travis2375 @goosehd is right and if you consider how much thought/consideration goes in to sizing, it would be a real minefield taking pre-orders when we don't know the dimensions of a product until the size run arrives in the UK.
-
Lots of reasons. We have to order seasonal items way in advance of announcing them. So when we do announce a collection, they are already in production. And if we could change that, and there are loads of reasons why we can't, using your example if we got pre-orders for fewer work shirts than westerns, then we would have to refund all the work shirt pre-orders, which would probably piss off the people who wanted a work shirt.
We did try it a couple of times in the past with non seasonal items. We got loads of cancellations, loads of "I have put on/lost weight, so I need a different size", loads of "the sizing is not what I expected, so I need another size". It was a nightmare, and the only way we could fulfil all the changes is demand was to make way more of each size to make sure we had enough to cover all the size changes.
The way we do it if far from perfect, but honestly, we think it is the least imperfect.

@Giles Makes sense, I knew you had good reasons
