@phoenixinflight for each person it’s a bit different. The double indigo duck started in 2015 as Selvedge and was woven so tightly that it broke the shuttle loom. So they stopped making the fabric and made around 70 pairs of jeans called the Loombreakers.
Then they ran the rest of the fabric on a non-selvedge loom and made jeans out of them, and at the time they didn’t sell well.
As time passed and the Loombreakers came up for sale from people who bought and sat on a pair or moved on from their used pair, the conversation often came up about re-running the fabric.any of us have a hunch it will be more popular now as a different option from the core denims.
Also, I’m just using the jeans as an example. They also made 1 or 2 jackets with the fabric.
The double indigo duck fades different than denim and takes on a wonderful electric blue fade really quickly in high wear areas. The 16oz they originally ran wears heavier that the number indicates. It’s a crispy tough fabric that’s a joy to break in.

No way

@jordanscollected thanks for sharing that story and some insight into the DD. It seems like one of those fabrics you just have to actually experience to appreciate. I don't really love stark high contrast fading either but the first wash would likely be a lot more crucial to how these DD pieces age I imagine. The loom breaking story is just insane! Does the 25oz fabric push them to similar limits?

Here are some photos of my double indigo duck type 3 to spread some hype. Nothing fades quite like this. Creases like lightning.
And I kid you fecking not, this is after only 56 wears on the type 3. The type 1 above it is also DD, faded by @Max-Power, which you can tell has been washed more.

@Oaktavia wow these fades are beautiful and incredible that it can fade so quickly. Jackets can be a long aging journey. I'm yet to acquire a CPO so it would be great to see this fabric with the copper snaps and even without the front yokes. Did you find with the tight weave that you would have more wind resistance than something like the flagship 21oz too?

@Oaktavia
the form of the pocket flap on the type 1 looks awesome , very unique and I’ve never seen before. would like to see more of that jacket -
Is it like on all our Type II's?
-
@Daniel-San that or a type 2, but I think a type 2 would be even better!

@Oaktavia absolutely insane thats only 56 wears! that stuff probably crocks like mad lol
