Good conversation with some people at work about the difference between Androids and Replicants led to the following quote of the day: "I'm just saying: If they can synthesize human skin for burn victims....they can make wagyu cutlets for starving kids in Africa."

The joint where my right big toe meets my foot has been hurting for a while, after the vet set the scale table down on it after weighing the dog.  X-rays in June said it was arthritis. I followed up with the podiatrist today and he said the vet could have triggered the chronic symptoms but the condition has been degenerating for years. He gave me a cortisone shot which helped but he didn’t give me any instructions so I took the dog on a 2 mi run about 4 hours later. About an hour after that it started to feel like my foot was being squeezed in a vice that was on fire and dripping acid. Now I’m in bed on 4 ibuprofen and an oxy left over from kidney stones. Don’t get old kids.

Being just days away from 40 now, I've found that my take on physical fitness has changed drastically since my 20s. I used to be able to eat 5,000 calories per day and burn it off doing physical labor and a few hours worth of BMX/skateboarding. I was made of rubber and could easily power through any pain that bothered me, usually from abuse. These days that abuse is catching up to me. I have a torn L4-L5 disc and do physical therapy/yoga/calisthenics morning and night and lift when the pain allows. I've found that diet/intake is the majority of the battle when it comes to staying in shape, and the remainder is knowing when to exercise and when to rest/heal. I guess I'm a slow learner.
