Red Wing Shoes

@WhiskeySandwich what are your thoughts on it? Tbh seems kind of like a slight modification of previous colors. Also I've found to steer away from the muleskinner/suede type of boot as they'd be tougher to keep clean after work.
-
@catdad1 the color looks good but I’ve become less attracted to leathers that are heavily colored as they don’t patina the way I prefer. The brown looks great though and I’m sure a worn pair would look good still, just probably darker than I like…
I too was not about some roughout for the same reasons. That and waterproofness. But I got a pair of Hawthorne Muleskinner Rovers and absolutely love them. I’m not big on cleaning my boots, so I hit it with some mink oil and brushed the hell out of them early. The patina on those is gnarly and when oiled, waterproofing is really not much different than leather.
Roughout just doesn’t dress up as nice imo. So I think rough-in / roughout biggest deciding factor is style. Both kick ass. I’d prob try a pair of the chocolate if I didn’t already have so many pairs lol

Rovers were super dry from sitting for 4 years. Fresh grease.

As an alternative to my 3322s, I recently acquired 3321 Weekender in Hawthorne Muleskinner. They're already 10 years old and they where hardly worn since then. I plan to change that.

A couple months ago I had some Roughnecks in EE, but they were too narrow. Someone who knows Redwing pretty well suggested that I try the 1907 in EE because it was likely to be wider. Does anyone have any info on whether or not this would be worth a shot? Or if there are any other heritage models that seem to be wider than the typical EE (I wear a 3E usually, but could stretch something that's close enough).
Edit for typo -
I've taken a similar approach, only in reverse. I have 1907s in ee width, and they're wide enough for my foot and very comfortable. Then I bought 877s, same size, same width. They definitely run significantly narrower, possibly too narrow for me in the long run, but I can't say for sure until I've broken them in properly.
If you want to play it safe, go for the 1907.

@indigo_fades My 1907 D moc's are slightly wider than my 875 EE. Both in a UK 8.5 size

Fall conditioning. Each boot got something different.
Oro Legacy - Bick 4
Amber Harness - Venetian Shoe Cream
Black Prarie - Mustang Paste
Olive Roughout - Light brushing only

Anyone pull the trigger on the 2966 Engineer boot? I wanted to but I already bought some whites engineers a few months ago. Post pics if you get them!
-
My first pair of redwings (1907)
Love em!! ... nearly finished breaking in.
-
I grabbed the 8168. I wanted the 8060 but i just wish the heel had a bit more height to it.
-
@Dmart yea. It’s a Japan exclusive but snake oil provisions is receiving them in the US. I sent them an email to pre order them. Seems like their stock will be small. They only had 1 size US 10
-
@ironfadegreg Love the 1907’s. Get ready, it’s a slippery slope, so many good RW’s.
-
Currently wearing a pair of 2950’s I scored from eBay a while back. They were nearly new when I bought them, but that was many miles ago. I love the CRT leather and the round toe makes a nice change too.

Has anyone got a recommendation for replacements laces beyond Red Wing's own? I just snapped a pair of their leather laces on my Moc Toes
-
@m4xime I have heard good things about https://www.pisgahrangeltd.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqwWXN7jIWk3Ni-8RU-F5zRopUFksMxWkNrp01GlNVNyvk__gAM

@m4xime I don’t have a recommendation but I’m sure I read somewhere that if you break the laces, contact Redwing and they will replace them.
I can’t swear to this. I just have a feeling I’ve read it somewhere.
