Self Edge X Iron Heart 13oz Broken Twill CPO
-
@Matt there’s always organs and fluids

Black broken twill cpo came in the mail today. The 13 oz is very different than the 14oz broken twill I had mind. So crunchy and it will break in nice! Fit is perfect too. Will try to grab pics this weekend!

New to iron heart and non-jeans denim apparel. Had my eye on either this or a type III denim jacket. I know they’re super different, but can anyone chime in on which one would be more versatile/have more use cases?
-
@dudedanger That's all going to be personal option (obviously), but IMO jackets are more versatile simply because they can be worn every day while still changing the outfit underneath. Wearing the same shirt every day works for some, but I like a little variety in my wardrobe. CPOs are meant to be worn as a shacket, but with the curved bottom hem Iron Heart puts on their CPOs and the western yoke, they definitely lean more to the shirt side than the jacket side.
That said, my go-to daily denim top piece is a IHSH-427 denim CPO and I love it.
-
See I have the opposite take as I think a CPO is more versatile. It can be worn as a shirt or a jacket at least depending on where you live and how cold it gets.
But like you said, depending on who you ask they will will all say something different.

These look nice but I already have 293 and the 19oz Sexih
( and the 19oz IB planned maybe )
Wear em as shirts myself. 293 in XXXXL and fits like shirt so there really isn't a way to wear these as a jacket anyway he he. -
Mine came yesterday and the OD denim is absolutely fantastic. Fit wise it’s pretty spot on but the bicep is almost too snug. Prob needs more time to break in I’m guessing.
Pics today

Love this release. So hard to choose another CPO between either of these, the 409, or the SEXIH25 OD restock.
-
@americanathreads why not just get them all. It is what I did. I got the sulfur did black broken twill and the CPOOD restock. I am now covered with a black that should fade to gray and one that will fade to indigo. Really loving the CPOOD restock. It is just too bad it will have to go on the shelf soon as it will not be too long before I have 100 degree weather.
-
I wonder how breathable they are, is this fabric more like 12 or 14 oz or really just inbetween as the weight would suggest.
-
@sabergirl thanks! would you still consider the SE as a shirt and an alternative to the 33IND or more a shacket like the heavier cpo's? I just love how soft my broken twill jacket (123) is and don't have an indigo shirt atm
-
I’m wearing it like a shirt. The only other denim shirt I’ve ever had from IH is a 141, which I think is 11oz? I sometimes wear that one over long sleeves as a shacket. I also rock it over a t shirt, as a shirt. Same with my untucked.
Honestly, I think you’re the only one who can answer this question. It’ll depend on how you size it, whether you layer, what the climate is where you live, etc.
-
@FlavourFade this one is nowhere near a soft as the 123. I sized this for a cpo shirt instead of the shacket approach. If you need to fill that void it would be good between the 33 ind and 123 od.
-
@catdad1 it’s pretty crispy but I bet it’ll soften up well
-
@catdad1 thanks man !! I was aiming to get the 33 indigo next restock but still the broken twill cpo looks great and probably more comfortable than the 14 oz shirts
-
@FlavourFade my 33 blk is very soft compared to the black broken twill cpo but like @Anesthetist said this one should break in nicely.
-
@catdad1 I can imagine since the 33blk really is crazy soft
