Bahzad & Risa had some additional information on the indigo dyed HW T-shirts on the March 14th Wonderlooper livestream.

The indigo dying process is expensive, so they are planning on taking pre-orders in April and then anticipating a couple months for production before shipping.

They are setting the price based on the base shirt price plus the dying cost, and estimated around $236 for the darker colors and $215 for the lighter shades at current exchange rates.

@whacim Thanks for the update details. I guess I can uncross my fingers wishing that the dying was going to be $20

@whacim Thanks for this, but wow, that's a huge markup for the dying. I'd sooner buy another plain white one and have a go in a bucket at home!

I think the main reason the dying is so expensive is because they are being hand dyed in the Tokushima prefecture. They are growing the indigo, fermenting it and dyeing it. From what I understand it is basically one of the most expensive ways to get something indigo dyed. However I was also disappointed in the pricing. I find the whole process cool but it is really hard to justify buying a tshirt that expensive.

@EdH looking at buying one of these t-shirts. deciding between an L and XL. what are your chest/shoulder measurements (and height, i guess, if that is not too intrusive) – and which size do you prefer after wearing them for a while?

@akohut I like both the L and the XL sizes I have. I prefer the L for a fitted look (see my post here) which I can wear under my shirts or just as a T-shirt, or the XL for a relaxed, oversized look (see OP at the top) which I tend to wear with shorts or under a hoodie.

I have no idea what my measurements are; I go off my current clothing that fits well. Take a T that fits you well at the moment and compare to WL's sizing, which can be found on any of their product pages. Be sure to measure the same way they do when comparing; they do not do the shoulder measurement in the same way Iron Heart do, for instance. Below is how WL do it.

@EdH thanks for this. i know for sure the L will work. just trying to figure out if the XL will be comically large. i don't have many oversized t-shirts, so that's why i was going by measurements. chest/shoulders will work i think, but more worried about the length

@akohut Yeah, they have plenty of length. I'm 178cm and the XL almost completely covers my butt at the back.

See they are just about to release a triple heavyweight t shirt - 17 oz evidently. Got a couple of their double heavyweight t shirts which are great but this is another beast entirely.

Question: how are the double heavyweights in terms of stretch?

The reason I ask is because I have a SDA Suvin tee that fits on the slim side for me. The fabric has a great feeling hand, but it doesn't have much give to it and because it's a bit too small, it ends up being too restrictive.

@EdH I see that you can wear them in two sizes, which makes me wonder if these shirts are more forgiving? I love a tee that shows off a bit of muscle, but not if it's making me feel claustrophobic.

Probably my favourite T Shirts. I got all the regular colors except for black (grey, a couple of whites, kaki, green and graphite). Also got their fox fiber one, but that one is much lighter. Dont have ani IR T shirts to compare but def much beefier than any other I own (rite stuff 9oz, UES supima etc. ) Washed multiple times, no shrinking, not much wear and tear visible. Overall bulit like a tank. There are 700g tripple heavy weight coming in a couple of days, but those are probably equivalent of a 25 oz jeans and not for everyone. Also they are double the price.

had to get their hoodie and sweater (french terry ) and they are absolutely amazing also.

forgot sizing... I am XL in IR shirts and XL in most japanese brands. L/XL in 3 sixteen... I got L in Wonder Loop everything and it fits right, like XL in IR.

@popvulture - these wear pretty big but you don't get much stretch in my experience.

Thanks y’all! Yeah I guess I could sorta frame my question compared to IH denim. 21oz is soft enough that if it’s a little too tight, it’s still doable. Too tight XHS, though? Punishing. I think I’d definitely want to go with the XL, because in general I’d say tees under 22” P2P tend to be too small for me unless they’re kind of light and stretchy.

@popvulture A bit stretchier than IH's 11oz, if you have one of those for comparison. I prefer the more fitted size L than my grey XL. They stretch out around the P2P measurement no problem, which is where I need it, but I think would struggle with them digging into my pits with a size M.

@cbmyles I have the French Terry double heavy weight zip hoodie. It’s HEAVY feeling like a blanket, which I love. The Waldes zipper is a nice touch.

My only complaint, (really not a big one but sort of) is that the knit they used on the cuffs and hem don’t really match the heft of the rest of the garment, if that makes sense.

@Brandrea makes sense, I'm leaning more towards the IH zip up because I want to be able to layer it under my CPO or a Dickies jacket. I think the Wonderlooper might end up being TOO much for layering
