Lot of money - I looked into getting the Ts direct from Japan a month back and I think you are stung for 20% Vat on the item incl shipping + the fee from whoever ships it. For the £645 - its £497 from WL in JP. ±600 direct then + a fee to UPS (!).
Mind you its a bargain next to the Fear of God Polyester blend: https://fearofgod.com/en-gb/collections/fearofgod-tops/products/zip-hoodie-fg25fw12-120flc-melange-grey

Very specific cottons used in those sweatshirts, and the darker one goes through an additional process to naturally darken the color. Having said that.. I could never justify paying these prices, but their ethos is to make really exceptional pieces, and sometimes the end cost is secondary. Visited them two weeks ago, great people.
-
@americanathreads I love the brand. The IH of Ts - highly recommended and wearing one now (under the new green IH overshirt).
My point was just that the Jeanstore prices seem high but are seem about right (ish)compared to importing direct from Japan.
Personally I am not paying 600 for a brown sweat (particularly with the IH drops coming up) but I like that they offer this hyper niche stuff for those that want them (Niche heavy X Fox Fibre X Iron Mordant!). I did buy a Fox T and not found it in rotation.
-
@will6er agree those Jeanstore prices are tough.

anyone put a double heavyweight sweatshirt through the dryer? don't want much shrinkage (if any) but seems like this sweater is going to take forever to hang dry. i've also found that thermals/sweatshirts in general seem to benefit from a machine dry, as it helps them shrink back to their original proportions
-
I have run my crew neck double heavyweight through the dryer, and I believe it shrank a bit in length and sleeve length, but not that noticeably anywhere else. I don’t have measurements from before, I’m afraid.
But if I compare the length of my medium to what’s on their current site, the length is crazy short by comparison. My medium is: 23.5” long, and the published length is 27.5”.
If I had to guess, there’s no way that’s all shrink. Mine is probably an older run and was shorter to begin with. I bought it used a couple years ago, so have no idea the history.
I’ve dried my sweatpants, and the shrink a bit but stretch right out again.
-
@sabergirl thanks that's what i figured. same goes for my buzz rickson sweatshirts and thermals. usually i just throw them in there for half an hour or so on a low-ish heat then hang dry just to speed the process up, so that's prob what i'll do here
-
@akohut haven’t run my sweatshirts yet, but I put my sweatpants through a cold wash then medium heat in the hopes to get a touch of shrinkage in the waist, and didn’t get much, but maybe <1” in the length. So overall, as it’s the same material, you probably won’t get much on medium heat. But that’s not to say if there was any stretching from wear, that it couldn’t bring it back in to its original specs..?

I have a lot to say but for now let’s just say I’m impressed.

Your dog looks quite concerned!

@Chibs WL is all awesome. The IH of sweats.
I nearly pulled the trigger on that exact one but I have the zipped in Navy in the same fabric so went for the Foxfleece - obviously lighter but very very nice also.
Been wearing their Ts and recommend all of them (Double heavy weight, ultimate pima and the fox ones).
-
@Chibs Now that looks great. Thats the fox fiber one? I tried a double heavy sweat on a while ago and it was the first and only time I felt like a garment was just too heavy. Like, i could tell immediately there would be very little opportunity for me to wear it.
-
@tenuin It is the double heavyweight french terry. Heavy? Yes, but it’s not too warm @ room temp which makes me scratch my head. Wore it 1°C with a type 3 over and later just by its self and I was comfortable. I need to figure this thing out.

-
@tenuin Wear mine all the time. V. heavy in hand but feels great to wear
-
@Chibs Looks fantastic. Always wanted to try a heavy weight WL hoodie, but the cost is eye watering and just prices it out of range for me.
-
@stitchdown.shell thanks man! Expensive for sure but as soon as I tried it on I was like “Where have you been all my life?” Remain strong and don’t try it on!
-
@Chibs Congratulations it’s a beauty

I own this in a zip version (had to have the Waldes zipper
). I totally agree with you in that it’s HEAVY but not particularly warm. My IH ZIP is much warmer feeling, maybe due to the more “fleeced” interior and tighter sleeves.Regardless the WL has its place

-
@Brandrea I laboured back-and-forth on whether to get the zip or not. They were both in stock. Langton (owner) said he prefers to layer a jacket over the regular hoodie as it looks cleaner. I had never thought of it that way and since my IH hoodie has a zip and I didn’t feel trapped by something that felt too warm, that’s what I went with. Langton also said their zippered hoodies outsell regular ones 3 to 1. He was super nice btw. That was my first time at Gerhard. Great shop! I remember you mentioning them earlier when we were talking about that ridiculously expensive hoodie.

He’s is SUPER nice and always gives great advice. Glad you had a chance to visit his shop. Just be careful, he’ll empty your wallet
