Adam, would you be able to give a bit of insight into how your sample feels after some break in? How's the drape and softness?

@popvulture I think it's had 4 washes since I've had it.

@Mizmazzle softened up a lot, it's become a lot comfier to wear over time. Particularly in the shoulders and sleeves where it drapes more naturally and is visibly less stiff

@AdamJ cool buddy, thanks. I've had some SBG jeans and those became so soft and comfy. Guess I'm curious how much stiffness all the pleats and pockets create along the front of the jacket. Looks like one fun jacket to break in!!

I'm guessing it stays a bit stiffer as a jacket, if the 19oz denim's any indicator. That said, the SBG is pretty soft/comfy stuff, so I'm sure it's not gonna be like walking around wearing sandpaper (which we love) as with the Lefty.

@popvulture totally. The lefty is the base of rigidity haha. Anything less and I think we're gaining exponential comfort. I love my lefty, but wouldn't call it "comfortable" per say...though I love the feeling of bullet proofness it provides. For me, this time around, if i'm going to add a new type 3, I want it to be really comfortable to wear, yet have than nice heaviness to it we love, while having a soft drape once its broken in. These are my personal wants in a new type 3.

If you want a truly soft drape, get the flagship 21oz type III! My sbg remains pretty rigid, even after years of wear. It’s surely softer than a lefty (though I don’t have one, so don’t really know), but I would say it’d be a stretch to call it soft.

It's certainly got some weight to it, but the sample I'm wearing now is soft. The production version has nowhere near the crunch or rigidity of the 19oz left hand twill denim for sure

@sabergirl I definitely have IH Syndrome, in the sense that I bet the SBG type III would feel radically soft compared to the Lefty. Practically feel like I'm not wearing pants when I wear my 634SBGs after wearing XHS most of the time.

I've been wearing XHS exclusively for the last few years. I've recently been wearing my 21oz ODs again quite a bit and they too feel like i'm wearing velvet pants.

Some bad news for the fans of red Ws - despite the sample having a red one, and us requesting that the production run keeps that, the factory got confused and moved the red W back to black (as it was on the original IH-526-SBG). Clearly, it's not worth the cost and environmental impact to send these all the way back to Japan to be restitched, so we will have to live with the black W on this run, and adjust on future runs...

Completely agree with @DeeDee85. I think the black W is going to look great. In fact, I was already considering trying to carefully sharpie it. This is a plus to me. Really hope the measurements work!
