Ok. Top 5, really hard choices were made here.

Indigo Girls - Nomads, Indians, Saints
Dave Matthews Band - Under the Table and Dreaming

I think the main purpose of this exercise is to get you to break apart yourself into compartments. For example, what were you REALLY into at age 15, then 25, then age 40 (give or take a few years. It's crazy to think of how much your younger self plays a roll on what your older self is really into (deep down). Y'all go do you, nobody is judging.  😘

Can get down with Kurt, Marquez, Stephenson, and especially William Fucking Gibson. I still have a cool Porter bag signed by him courtesy of @Snowy (thank you again my friend) and he is a big fan of Iron Heart and Acronym (just like me–couldn't be much more different brands but somehow we share a love for them)

❤ Love you still have that bag. I still think about it quite a bit TBH. It's a really unique bag and perfectly sized. Cyberpunk, classic Japanese, military accented.

A bit more 'pop' on the book side, I enjoy reading the Takeshi Kovacs novels (the TV series is fairly decent too). Still can't get past the original Blade Runner for OG visuals tho.

the last 2 are movie books.
I can't pick top 5. But since you name Leigh-Fermor yeah, that could be one. I remember those books.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them…
              Well, I have others.

@neph93 glad to see Kate Bush being represented here. My favourite flits between The Dreaming & HOL, depends on the day.  Great to see Jeff Vandermeer on your list too, The Southern Reach trilogy is a modern masterpiece and is the eeriest stuff I’ve read in a while. I remember enjoying Vurt many years ago when I was reading as much weird Sci-Fi as possible.

@Nkwkfld how could I forget Knausgaard?! The My Struggle series is really important to me.

It’s cool to see so many crossovers in taste, and also to receive recommendations of things that have flown under my radar. It’s interesting to me how much crossover there actually is, and that the tastes don’t only align in terms of music, but books as well. This is a very enjoyable thread and I’m surprised one didn’t already exist!

I just can’t get there with books. There are many I’ve enjoyed over the years but only one stands out for constant revisiting. A slight cheat as it’s a collected works, but for me it’s The Complete Saki.

I am not going to post these for obvious reasons. But feel free to look them up for yourself 😉 I can actually think if way worse songs but they are completely in poor taste. The list escalates quickly…

                            1. I was made for lovin' you -Kiss
                            2. I can dream about you- Dan Hartman
                            3. Are you ready for the sex girls? -Gleaming Spires
                            4. Gunpoint Affection- Black Market Baby
                            5. Little Girls- Oingo Boingo

                            Honorable mentions:

                            Anything by GG Allin
                            Turn Japanese- the Vapors

I had a larger list compiled in my mind earlier but I can't remember now. I know there's another one great one I'm forgetting.
