Paula and I are taking a few days off to see some of Yorkshire and Northumberland. We are staying here for a few days. The food capital bit is an accident, whilst we both like good food, I would not describe us as foodies, so I am hoping for good simple fare....Edit, actually I just thought about that, I'll enjoy average food if the ambience and service is good but hate "good" food, if the service is bad/snotty/indifferent. Or dare I say it, if I am expected to leave a 20% tip to help pay the waiting staff what the owners should actually be paying them....

Went to McMillans of Malton for a drink last night. It is actually a booze shop that has the shop bit locked up at night, you walk through that and up the stairs and boom, there is a little bar....

To answer why we’re doing this: In 2017 and 2019, Lake Ontario reached record high water levels with a lot of damage to shoreline properties. These pictures are from our neighbors yards:

Thankfully it's all sand and they were able to get through the permafrost(technically I should use frost layer as we don't have a permafrost level in our area) fairly easily. A clay and this couldn't happen.

I should have worked out how high it is, but I'm guessing 25 feet. Should be a breeze with the planning guys....And you could use this 1973 pic as proof of minimal impact to the environment.....
