I remember collecting all kinds of gems and stones in my childhood. It began early with the OCDs 😂

Just finished the first 10k on my newly acquired anti belly machine, a WaterRower. Happy with the < 40min finish time.

love my waterrower too @weftyarn and congrats!
Halfway through pandemic I added the smartrow system and really enjoy it if you're looking for a small upgrade.

@pechelman thanks mate! Found it used at a great price and absolutely loving it! I’ll definitely upgrade to the smartrow at some point to see the actual performance in Watts 😃
Good to hear you’re happy with it! Has the installation been easy?

@weftyarn honestly, the installation of the SmartRow wasnt well designed but I made it work. If you get one and are confused with how to make the things fit the least bad way, lemme know, and I can take a picture of how I rigged mine. It's been solid since installed, and while I'm no Olympic rower it is about to hit 2million meters on it.

I was fairly rejected to get the much slower speeds going from the built in WR monitor to the SR power meter. It's about ~10s slower per 500m.

@pechelman thanks for the helpful insight mate! It always looks easy on the videos but when you actually do it… I’ll reach out when the time comes and I’m in need of some help!

2 million meters is not too shabby. That’s 200 10k sessions, still a long way to go for me. Any maintenance / parts that failed yet?

@indigostiff awesome! Only heard good things about the concept2, how do you like it? It was a tough one between that and the Waterrower. The WRs aesthetic and neighbor freandliness were the deciding factors.

                            Use it or lose it.

Honestly, I havent had to touch a single thing except for charging batteries @weftyarn . I've been meaning to do a once over on all the fasteners to ensure they're still tight, but last time I did they were all fine. The WR itself has long since passed 2Mkm since I put the SR on it after almost a year. It seems like a suitable piece of equipment for a gym where it would get way more use than I can put on it.

For me, it was also all about the quiet nature of the WR and how easy it stands up and the small footprint it takes when not in use since I've got this in a small corner of small workshop area.

@Alex @Chap and I went to visit Kolesch, the tannery that makes the deerskin for the Big Bucks. The tannery has been in the same premises since 1699 and is still owned by the same family. We were shown around by the 7th and 8th generations....Many of the processes were positively medieval, and health and safety was not high on the list of priorities. I walked around in a sort of utterly amazed daze.......

Here are a few pics, I did not take many and photos really do not do the sensory onslaught justice...Alex will post more later, but he is driving atm....

Possibly, but we understand a lot more about the operation and constraints they run under. Each hide takes a year to turn from a raw skin into the finished product and "painting" the hides is incredibly labour-intensive. Plus they do all sorts of other stuff for local hunters, we saw a pallet load of beavers waiting to be tanned, a guy popped in last night with a fox he had just shot and asked how much it was to skin and tan it, and another hunter turned up with a load of rabbits this morning. The family are easily distracted 🙂

The good news is that the natural obviously does need to be "painted", so we believe we will be able to get deliveries of that faster. We will test that theory very soon.....
