@Ross The S would be perfect if the sleeves were a tad longer, any chance there are any in the S with a slight deviation in the sleeve length? Cheers

@John-Galt looking at the sizing of the westerns that have been release this year so far here and in Japan - I think this is the new standard for sizing. Not great for me either.

WTB: Medium brown N1 (IHM-35-BRN) / Medium navy tanker (IHM-47-NAV)

It’s not the new standard, it is recalibrating to what it used to be…

Hopefully the recalibration eventually shifts back towards the prior-recalibration dimensions before I actually need to buy a new shirt.
The overall length and the sleeves are running shorter in the recalibration with the chest, shoulder, waist, and opening running larger. Looks to me like it got recalibrated to the work shirt dimensions.
I get it - I’m just one person (that has a typical slim build) and it is what it is - fingers crossed that the dims revert back over time.

@John-Galt I'm just one person too... But I'm with you 100%. 12 out of 14 of my IH western shirts are size L. The other 2 are XL. This is looking like a medium would be just on the larger size for me, but doable... if not for those sleeves! Bummer, I was really looking forward to this one. I'll inquire about a medium with longer sleeves, but honestly, I'd need another inch, and that seems unlikely.

I guess it's one of those can't please everyone situations with the sizing. I am looking at the size chart and thinking wow that is awesome. I usually have to get SP-Large due to 3XL having too small a chest/shoulders for me.

When wearing a size XS in most IH shirts over the past 6 years and then a recalibration sets the sizes larger without adding a size XXS, the only option is to size up to a shirt that fits way too big. And with the shorter length and sleeves for the given sizes from previous dimensions, the option to shrink the shirt is off the table since it will then be too short. Not complaining - and I get it - IH has to make changes to sell items if that is where the numbers are - and I’m just one customer (but with a very average slim build).

@Biecher For Western-style shirts from IH I prefer wearing a size XL, as I like a loose fit. The shirt shown in the pictures is the sample piece in size L.

As long as the sleeves don’t keep ending up short everything seems ok. If there’s a little bit of room on chest or body, people can always have it taken in and better yet keep that fabric folded inside the shirt in case you ever needed to let it out again 😉

+0.6” - 0.7” of length on each tag size would be great..

Regarding the re-structured sizing on this shirt—

Is it “intended” for your normal-ish size to be the correct choice, just with a more relaxed fit? Like, is it a new, more relaxed pattern? Or essentially the same pattern just with different tagged sizes? Forgive me if I’m not wording this question the right way.

I’m normally a L or XL in westerns (and everything from IH) and despite knowing I should just trust the size chart, I have some odd mental block towards buying a medium, as it just feels “incorrect”.

I know chest measurement doesn’t tell the whole story with how a shirt fits, and a lot falls onto the pattern and underarm/shoulder mechanics, which IH has always grasped better than any other brand out there.

@hammertoe1 as long as you use the measurements as a guide, the shirt should always fit the same. It doesn’t matter what the tag size is if you go by the measurements.

I have shirt tag sizes from medium to 2xl because I use the measurements to pick the shirt that will best fit me. If the measurements don’t work for whatever reason, I sometimes have to skip a release. Although on occasion, the measurements don’t work but I have been able to work with the IHUK crew to find one that will work.
