@Mlwdp I was watching the live and fired an email right away over to Tenille. Hopefully made the 30 slot limit.

I am waiting on my first pair of engineers. SJ derrolls I preordered in march. Will probably be sometime next year with their 12-13 month estimate. Made me think though that I would have probably been better off with the rough n readys because of the sole. It sucks that living in the nordics you almost have to have the vibram lug sole or whatever you call it since for at least 3-4 months of the year all other soles are like skates. Red wing moc toes and whites ramblers are an absolute no go if there is any snow or ice.
Anyone got any experience on how the non-lug vibram 700s etc do in winter? The answer is probably what I already figured out and since I had to have a pair of the derrolls I will probably wait to see how I like the engineers and then start thinking about ones with the lug sole for a second pair much later.

@Northman Canada here and I prefer the lug sole in the winter for traction. I personally find anything with a smooth slick sole on snow and ice tricky at best. You can do it if you do the snow/ice shuffle where you don’t really lift your feet and glide across the compacted snow/ice.

My biggest gripe about the lug sole is the amount of snow that gets packed into the treads and when you go indoors the mess they make. We have a pretty strict no outdoor shoes in the house during winter. Boots off at the door.

@Northman I had my Boss engineers with the standard 700 sole with me a couple times on trips to the black forrest in winter and besides the fact that I personally don't think engineer boots are the best choice for hikes, they felt okayish but anything with a bit more traction like even the scarpa mojito is way better
