WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY - WAYDT (PICS)
-
@Twistlock oof been there a couple of times man, nothing fun about that. Except the ice cream.
-
@Denman-John , thanks, a lot better today.
-
@Twistlock bummer dude
-
I’m spending a day off either my 13 year old, and we had all sorts of plans, but then she sprained her ankle yesterday, so now she’s baking while I’m doing stuff around the house.
The weather is fine, so some of the heavy clothes are getting some air.

-
Day off, and beautiful spring weather! Some cycling in the morning, and trying out the new backpack with a hike in the afternoon..

At the cages with the kiddo

First attempts with Sashiko repair

-
Damn that’s cool! Great work on that repair @Indigo-Alchemist
-
@Indigo-Alchemist Glorious!
-
@RoxRocks86 many thanks! Kids pants are a great way to get into sashiko repair - there is a lot to be fixed
️ -
@RobeOfTheMagi thanks mate appreciate it
️ -
@Indigo-Alchemist Outstanding!! Is this something you ordered online?
Edit: Would you mind showing us the reverse (inside) of your repair? Always curious how the other side looks.
-
@goosehd haha… you got me there, the inside looks like a mess
Still need to practice and it’s challenging for me as I‘m very impatient. It took me roughly 5h to get it done and it was my second sashiko repair that I ever did.I got this cards and a book from Amazon and watched a couple of videos.
I also figured out that kids pants are though because there is not much space for your hand and needle when going inside

Still learning the ropes….

-
@Indigo-Alchemist I’m still impressed that your first try looks so good! Always wondered how the back side looked as that’s how I imagine mine would look.
-
Anytime I end up with a sashiko repair that im satisfied with it usually means I pulled everything out (after getting it 90% complete) and started over at least 1-2 time before I finally finished it
Yours looks great
If you sew a temporary (basting) stitch around the outside of the patch next time you can avoid that patch fold ( I've done the dreaded fold SO MANY TIMES)
you just pull that outer stitch out once you are all done
