IH-888-XHSib - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Ind/blk

@Jord thank you
That's what I'm thinking..
32in waist will shrink to appx 31in post wash then back up to ~32in while wearing. Is that the right idea? -
@jglatz roughly, yep. I'd rather have a little more room than too little
-
@Jord thank you!
Re: hemming - I typically hem to 31in to allow for about 1in shrink post soak on 21oz indigo. 30 is my sweet spot.
On the XHSib do you recommend not hemming at all pre wash? I am thinking maybe to to hem to about 32in to allow me to wear them with a big cuff to get a sense if I need to take off more in the future. -
@jglatz Totally up to you! If you have the luxury of getting them hemmed after washing/trying on, go for it... It might also be best to get them hemmed after you know for sure which size will fit you (31/32)
I normally get hemmed before delivery, but I also have all different sizes of hems on jeans so maybe I'm not the person to advise haha.
Just expect 1nch of shrinkage after washing, roughly... I think some people have actually posted pre/post wash measurements already.
edit: if you also want to remove all shrinkage, you'll probably want to do a pretty hot soak/30degree wash, I've had jeans in the past I gave a "mild heat" wash and after months of wearing they shrunk even more after their first machine wash, just things to consider...

@Jord I will scroll up and take a look - thank you for the insight!

@worn2fade what did you hem these to?

I hemmed mine to 34.5” so it can sit at 33.25”-33.5” after the soak.
When it comes to your waist, measure how your jeans fit right now after being relaxed— whatever that measurement is, shoot for that in the XHSib size chart. Though the soak will shrink it, you’ll gain it right back.
For example, if your current comfortable pair measures 32.5”, then make sure the XHSib you get measures 32.5” or right around it.
-
@jglatz I also like my waist measurement at 31.5”. That being the case, I went with a size 31 for both my 888S-21ib and 888-XHSib. They were both closest to the 31.5” measurement that I prefer. The waist does stretch out over time, but I wear a belt to minimize stretching in the waist (less tension, less stretch). Once washed, it will shrink back a little, but it will also stretch back out quite quickly. It was just a little uncomfortable at first. That’s due more so to it being so rigid/stiff at first, but it was comfortable once broken in. Mine were broken in within about 3-5 wears.
I sized for my preferred waist measurement from the get-go. I didn’t size down and try to calculate where it “should” stretch out to after some wear. I also didn’t size up in hopes of shrinking it down with a hot wash.
Hope this helps!

Pretty sure a year ago I said to myself I’d never do 25oz yet here we are… post hot soak fit. Seemingly I only lost about .5 inches in inseam so I fear they might be longer than I wanted. Will have to see how they wear over the next little while to see what I should do next. Overall happy with the fit. Wife on the other hand, is confused.

50 ounces of hot soak today. Then a cold wash for both.
I sized up to 34" on this pair of XHSib. My other XHSib pair is 33" but I kept them dry for years (not even a soak) because I didn't want the size to change at all. Do I dare put this up sized 34" HXSib pair in the dryer? I might try them on wet after the cold wash. If they're still roomy, maybe I'll toss them in the dryer.
I put fifteen wears in on the 33" XHS pair before soaking because I just couldn't wait to wear them. No noticable wear or fading on the outside, but the wear on the inside looks pretty cool.

Black Blue has dang near every size in stock! Probably your last chance to grab now before waiting a couple years.
-
Back of the car was dirty. Xhsib being so dark really highlights it well

-
@moskiitto no wonder people can’t hold off on washing these. Especially without being able to spot clean without messing something up, you must wash unless you want to look like a man who isn’t clean

back in my day, work wear was work wear for a reason
