Finished the initial cold soak, then hot soapy wash in the tub, followed by several rinses. All with lots of agitation.
I was nervous about having my first 666 hemmed before I got to try them on, but I think the gamble paid off. Kinda feels like we nailed this one. Stoked to start breaking in my first XHSib!

Ok all you professional 25oz breakers, any advice on how to address how tight the button slots are?
Any advice is much appreciated!

@dirtyframer I buttoned my XHS and never unbuttoned them... They get easier to undo with wear, but still I never unbutton them unless they pop out in the wash

@dirtyframer They loosen up quickly. Once you've spent 20 minutes doing them up the first time, the fight's pretty much won.
...and who would want to deprive themselves of that initial 20-minute fight, anyways? It's fun. The jeans must be claimed by one who is worthy!

I used a wooden dowel to work them a bit for that first fitting but yeah they've loosened up quite a bit after a few weeks, and now slip on and of easily enough. They find their seating basically

I work the button holes with a sharpie when I first get them. After that I have a rule that I undo every button every time I’m in the bathroom. By the end of day 2 it’s pretty easy. I keep the “all 4 buttons” rule until I can easily undo and redo each button individually while the others are still buttoned. -
I do the need nose plyers trick, reverse open to give em a little stretch. I keep the very bottom buttoned at all times.

I have one that sits in my drawer with hem off cuts and stuff that's very indigo stained. -
I just work the holes a bit with a screwdriver to widen them but after a couple wears they become pretty okay to work with

Post warm soak.
The butt and knees look cool. The leg opening is bigger than I expected. Crazy what a single inch adds. Lost 3/4" waist and 1.25" inseam. Leg opening zero/negligible change.

I found these in stock in almost every size at Black Blue in the states. Just fyi. I didn't realize retailers got them.

@northsouthdenimguy the fabric is insanely nice. The 634 XHSIB are my "nice" weekender jeans. ~10 wears and the electric blues are already popping.

My 25 oz XHS are pretty faded at this point, so figured it’d be nice to have another heavy pair at least for a bit that looks crisp. Also, I’ve been purging quite a bit of stuff over the last few months so figure I can justify it.

It makes me so happy that tip helped. I'm always window shopping so glad to do it.
I'm still deciding if I'm going to hem mine or sell them. 777 is so much better for me personally. I know that's going to restock and I'm going to want to cave. I'm trying to tell myself that I'll like the 666 hem/opening better when they're not Tokyo cuffed as they are currently. Real
