Happy new year friends!
Cheers to you and your loved ones and I hope you have the best year ever in 2026.

New Years tends to be one of the less enjoyable days as a dog owner in Berlin. Usually we try to get away from it all but it didn't pan out this year, so I spent the night comforting our dog, most of the time on the bathroom floor as it's the only room two walls removed from the nearest window and so the quietest. I had a wee tipple of this rum though. Independent bottling of DDL juice. Distilled on the Port Mourant still, one of the two last remaining wooden stills in the world (both residing at DDL). 100% pot still, no added sugar, 10 years continental aged. And a hefty 58%abv.

Make mine a double!

-
@tenuin wow that still is a true artifact of history, thanks for the education on DDL! I will need to seek out their rum!
-
Visited the award winning Talnua Distillery to sample their incredible single pot still whiskey. I had to take home some of their new bottled in bond sherry cask and eggceptional nog!

A wee dram come the evening of this rainy New Year’s Day.

@SFMCfranky That’s my favorite of all the Wellers.

Mine too.

@DeeDee85 it was not as bad as other years, but not great.. how did your pup make it through the night?
@SourPower they should be easy enough to find, DDL is the last operational Guyanese distillery. They bought up most of the equipment of other Guyanese distilleries as they went out of business, so they have a vast number of stills. Their flag ship marque is El Dorado but they are also in the market under a bunch of other names. But really independent bottlers is where it's at. They tend to be more affordable and have a few more years of age.

@endo @Tago-Mago you have my sympathies, gentlemen.

@mclaincausey Ordered this one on sale today. Will pick it up next week and report back.

@Jett129 hope you like it. I have my first El Mero Mero sitting unopened on my shelf, their tobala. Really excited to try that one.
