Was looking for some photos of my watches and came across a few with my edc knives in em.
Chris Reeve would have to be my hands down favourite especially in a Tanto and if I could justify the cost I’d have a few more Japanese made Rockstead’s too. Especially in a ZDP-189 The prices on those now are so damn high. Had a few Shiro’s in my time too but they never really did it for me and quickly moved em on.

I thought I might share a tiny outdoor knife I had made for me by Austrian knife maker Richard Kappeller about 10 years ago. I liked the idea of a beautiful little knife for the outdoors and camping.

Richard really executed all of my specifications really well.. However, I now find the knife too small for my hands and difficult to use. It is sturdy enough for batoning (but too small really) and too thick for slicing. So at the end of the day my specifications were just wrong. It is still a beauty to behold though.

I’ve always had the gift of losing stuff since a kid and it’ll likely only worsen since I’m already in my 60s. When I inherited my dad’s knives I had the brilliant idea of using them instead of just storing them. So far I’ve already lost 3 of them which pushed me to revisit my earlier resolve. I recently bought two folding knives, both Benchmade, for routine life use and replace my dad’s at daily use & loss.

This mini BUGOUT is now my EDC. I’m hoping the flashy color will lessen the likelihood of me absentmindedly leaving it somewhere.
The larger ADIRA will be my partner at ranch activities.

And this is what is left of my dad’s collection…

He was very fond of Buck’s folding knives. He swore about their blade quality influenced by their logo cutting a nail if hammered on. Although he never tested his knives to that extent… He thought the Leatherman multitool idea was wonderful but he never carried/used it much. The Victorinox smaller knives were usually used as marketing gifts by local companies.

On the fixed blade front I only ever saw him use these the german SOLINGEN ones. With their solid/heavy blade and large, comfortable handle, they were excellent tools for peeling sugarcane stalks at the end of the day.

            The journey is the objective.

I ordered one of County Comm’s “Mystery Knife” packs. $99 for at least three knives equal to 200% or more of value paid. I used a discount code to get it for around $85.

I can’t say I wasn’t a little disappointed to receive three of the same knife. But I was hoping to receive at least one of them! The “Maratac Ready 4 Anything” They’re badass! D2 steel and they come with the cool lanyard and titanium bead. They come with a fitted kydex holster and a clip that can be arranged in a variety of positions. Each batch is numbered as well. These are sold for $65 on their website. So three of these and a sharpener for $85 is a good deal to me.

This video convinced me of how badass and durable this knife is. I think I will be using the Micarta one at work. Keep the UGM in my IHE-51 and the Ultem handle I’ll save as a NOS version at home.

I do love that, but man I've already got two osbornes. Eventually my green one will probably look that blue anyways.
