RDR2 is excellent, but its pace is pretty slow. I really want to play it again but it felt like a bit of a battle to play the first time.

Cinematic aspirations for games is all well and good but when it’s 60 hours to finish it needs to be pretty spectacular to engage throughout. I think it slightly misses the sense of humour that can lift the drudgery.

Broken old houses, boring Scottish whisky, weird Japanese denim, all French wine, sad American music, wool socks in summer.

It's a slow burn game for sure, if you're used to fast paced action then RDR2 will be a shock. It's great story telling and immersive, but you need to slow yourself right down. I've been ignoring the main story, wandering about hunting and collecting the collectables. The biggest problem for me is finding a couple of hours to sit down to play without interruption, it's not a quick 30minute session game.

Need to get back to Death Stranding 2. Love the game so much. Started Yotei but need to put in a proper session this weekend. If RDR2 gets a 60fps patch for PS5...gonna need more hours in the day LOL

@Nick Yeah, with both Stranding games, i had to really drive thru them. They're absolutely great, but if i lose steam on them, its really hard to get back in the zone. They're a different beast.

I'm super hooked on Yotei, its every bit as good as i hoped, and all the talk about it is just talk.

There's no way i could run thru RDR2 again, great game, heavy lift lol

Yotei is great fun. I like that the game surprises you constantly, even something as trite as visiting a hot spring sometimes comes with a little twist to throw you off balance. I like the new weapons (rather than just different katana stances) and the rock-paper-scissors aspect to fights, but it has got a bit easy now I have unlocked all the weapons, notwithstanding that I'm playing on Hard. I'm hoping that they do something to mix things up like they did with Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island DLC and the enemies that could switch weapon sets on you. It's gotten to the point where I'm strong enough that stealth isn't really something I need to worry about and it's often most efficient to just charge in the front gate of a stronghold and start a massive battle, which is a little disappointing.

Other than that, I'm also chilling with Powerwash Simulator again in readiness for Powerwash Simulator 2 coming out next Thursday. There's no better game to listen to audiobooks to.

I also just stumbled across BALL x PIT and have downloaded that to try it. It looks like it will be an addictive blend of a rougelite brickbreaker with RPG mechanics served to you a la Vampire Survivors style.

RDR2 was too long IMO. I felt it ran out of steam after the section on the Island. I feel like Rockstar's formula is a bit tired these days - I get what they're going for but their mission design can feel too restrictive and I hate it when you get a 'mission failed' screen for stepping one toe out of the narrow confines of the mission because you were thinking of trying to flank the enemies or something.

@EdH Hollow Knight is manageable, bar a few post-end game DLC bosses and platforming sections...

Silksong was originally planned as a DLC, and so, picks up where the original ended difficulty-wise.

It's probably not as bad as you're thinking it's gonna be, especially if you occasionally refer to exploration guides as I do to uncover (extremely well hidden) secret areas that grants the buffs and boones needed to minimise the amount of rage induced by some of its hardest sections!

I'd recommend HK wholeheartedly to anyone, and if you like what you see, playing Silksong is a no-brainer.

my biggest gripe about Yotei is that they really need to do some mo-cap and have some proper cutscenes. Usually when theres a cutscene i just want to get back to gameplay as it is.

I have completed Demons Souls, Dark Souls I - III, Sekiro, got the plat on Elden Ring and also the plat on Bloodborne (GOAT game don't @ me). But Hollow Knight legit scares me.

Been playing with the idea of grabbing both HK games for the Switch 2.

I was an old time Nintendo fan, way way back. The original handhelds and then the first consoles. The S2 is the first modern day console I've owned from them and it was mainly because I wanted to play Breath of the Wild (and its sequel) properly and finally in 60fps.

                              I love it.

Got the new Mario Kart, Donkey Kong and also Wonder. Also have Disco Elysium and Balatro on it. It's sort of replaced my Steam Deck at this point for pick up and play bits. Defo decent for 'pc' indie games. I wont be using it for AAA games - PS5 can handle that heat.

Got it decked out in Dbrand gear too.

@ZackB The online discourse has and will always be a mess re: Nintendo, mostly for their bad PR. Lots of people saying it's just a Switch 1.5. Bit harsh that.

Anyways, they know how to make classic brilliant video games and Switch 2 is an upgrade. Donkey Kong Bonanza is digital crack.

60fps should be the basic on any new tech and they deliver. Obv OLED would have been nice but the screen is actually extremely good and 1080p on device, 4k on your tv (if supported).

                                  Defo worth the purchase.

Got the platinum on BALLxPIT last night. The game is a blast, but dangerously moreish. Playing it last weekend, I thought it could only be midnight at the latest, but it was actually 2:30am. Figuring out how to make completely broken builds that just delete all the enemies on screen was good fun. Highly recommended for the asking price of £12.

Now back to Yotei with Powerwash Simulator 2 as a more relaxed second option. I've only had a quick dabble in the latter, the visuals are far better, and they've added animations for the powerwasher which make everything seem more immersive. I will try digging in the settings to see if there is an option to revert to the control scheme of PwS1 though, as the new button layout is seriously messing with my head.

@Tago-Mago Yeah, a shame about Bloodlines 2, but a mixed game is a fairly regular outcome when a project gets passed between multiple studios like it was.
