@Jord Have fun with your new toy! I usually try to go with 7 year cycles. So the iPhone 20 is probably my next phone.

Yeah that's the way to do it, like to get my moneys worth but I love the joy of preordering and waiting for announcements etc, reminds me of Iron Heart a little with announcements on the forum and waiting to try buy something so I undestand why people trade their newest in to upgrade- just not worth it for me either. Although I did hear there's a rumour of a iPhone "flip" of some kind next year... Not sure what to make of that lol.
Thanks man

Just downloaded iOS 26 on my phone, iPad and I watch. Looking good so far.
-
Updated my phone (12 pro max) and my watch (series 7). Definitely enjoying my phone but the transitions and animations makes it show its age slightly.
Probably waiting until next weekend or until a .1 update to update my laptop.
-
@Denman-John took me a minute but I’m liking the new aesthetic on my 14 pro
-
@SKT There is more of a difference on my iPad compared to my phone. This update makes the iPad more like a computer and I like having the ability to have multiple windows open at the same time. Still playing around with it, but it’s working as it should so far.
-
@Denman-John that’s good to hear. With my wife and kids we have 4 iPhones and 3 iPads…and I’m the only one who’s updated! I’ll update my wife’s iPad to see how it looks
-
@SKT I’d like to think I’m on the cutting edge of technology, but in reality we’re the Guinea pigs of the family

-
@Denman-John absolutely…ha!

I'm still rocking a 14pro phone. My wife is on a 13pro. She'll likely upgrade before I do. I'm kind of hoping they come out with a mini version like before. I miss being able to fit my phone in my chest pocket with the flap closed on a shirt.

I've updated the iOS on the phone, I'm liking the new smart cross-fade in Music way more than I was expecting. The update on the MacBook can wait though, iOS 26 no longer supports Time Machine backups so I'm going to need to source a new option other than the Cloud to do this. - I'm less happy about this!

From what I understand, Time Capsule will no longer be supported, not Time Machine.
-
@DrPat You are correct! My bad, same problem for me though, a new hard drive is required.
-
I use a toggle to connect my Time Machine backup HDD and monitor to my MB Air. However every time the Macbook goes to sleep it says that the devices have not been ejected properly after waking up. I've never had that problem with my old MB pro. Have you experienced that problem?
-
@RobeOfTheMagi Happens to me on my iMac too. It’s an annoying, untidy thing, but not a problem in itself. It won’t damage your HDD.
It has to do with how the energy saving settings on your mac work. The usb-C interface loses power when the machine sleeps and the HDD loses the connection.
You can fiddle with the energy saving settings and it might help, but likely at the expense of increased electricity consumption and possibly the lifetime of your MacBook.

My Apple Watch is dog ugly, but it’s a saviour for things like checking sound levels, especially where I virtually sit on a compressor at work. That combined with the AirPod pros (the 2s were fantastic, but the 3s I got yesterday are another level) definitely help save my hearing (my audiologist approves). When I worked in London the watch was great for giving me subtle directions rather than walking around with my phone out. I like that you can see messages/take calls on the wrist esp in the middle of sewing - nothing worse than getting up to see who a call is from when I could have tapped it away. So health and safety for me - but the aesthetic is pants, I feel almost embarrassed to wear it.
I’d highly recommend AirPods Pro3, well worth the money
