Buttons are zinc and the indigo armpit stuff is bias binding.....

@Giles thanks Giles. So that bias binding is there to look cool or reinforce the edges or both?

Bias binding is fabric cut on the diagonal of a fabrics weave, this allows it to stretch and curve around corners, we use it to finish and hide the raw edges of the shoulder seam....

Cool is unintended, but then true cool usually is.....
