I love the Dude, but strenuously disagree with his opinion of the Eagles. When I was a little boy discovering music I was listening to records and cassettes of them, Zoe, Jimi, the Doors, BB King, and, randomly, a transparent yellow Grand Funk Railroad album alongside Motown, Stax, and the Beatles. So they’re kinda burned into me. At least he likes Creedence!

@endo good to hear. He’s so cool. The Dude made it hip with a lot of people to hate them. I definitely understand hating Laurel Canyon adult contemporary soft rock stuff but whatever; I don’t. And I increasingly appreciate some of it as I age.

I wasn't aware there is such a thing and despite having been to LA numerous times and to the Canyon as well, I didn't know that the Canyon gave name to a part of music history. But looking it up I must say, I do like most of what's mentioned (Zappa, Mamas & the Papas, Byrds, CSNY). On the other hand, I almost listen to anything as long as it feels authentic or I just like it. And, like with drinks, it's the moment that counts. There have been and there are moments in my life where this kind of music just fits.

@endo heard that. There is a documentary about the Laurel Canyon scene and all the music it produced that you might enjoy. Laurel Canyon: A Place in Time is the name of i recall correctly.

@mclaincausey Is it this one, which I really liked.

Man I wanted to like that Laurel Canyon doc but I thought it was so clunky. The scenes with Beck, Chan Marshall etc watching the TV felt so scripted and wooden. Granted I adore that music and everybody in it pretty much, so I soldiered through, but sheesh.
