IH-101J-SR - 18oz Selvedge Denim Storm Rider Jacket - Indigo

@RobeOfTheMagi This jacket consistently confuses people, understandably. Look at the shoulders and sleeve as a whole (see above)
-
Thanks @Alex. Quality answer as usual!

@tk303 The lining is not that thick imo that it matters that much with sizing correctly.
But the denim is quite stiff, and if you're like me, a bit between 2 sizes, you might need to decide for a certain look.
For me at the end, I prefer a slightly bulkier look with this jacket, it being overall a more cold weather jacket that might need to accommodate UHF, etc.
I tried with a M, and even though it did fit, I felt restricted, and most importantly for me, I kind of lost the cozy feeling of a nice warm winter jacket.Plus you can always shrink it a bit if necessary (CTRL-F the thread to find a user at least who did post shrink results).
Here is a picture with a IH shirt + T-shirt under to give you an idea (same look with a UHF but I took the picture with this one). I'm 180cm and now around 73 kg.
Added bonus for me but I don't like when shirts exceeds too much the jacket length in general, so the slight over-sizing really helps here. -
Interesting point about the shoulder and sleeve length that I hadn't even considered.. it is a tricky one to figure out measurements
-
@Slash, love the detailed response, thank you!

Couldnt figure out for the life of me between XL and XXL so ordered both and will send one back just to be extra safe! Very pumped about this one

Is this restock only with IHUK? Specifically wondering if Self Edge is getting any? @kiya
-
@Danimal506 @guiltyparty got them so looks like other retailers picked them up also
-
@ZackB @Danimal506 We got em, come and get em
-
Self Edge did not take these on this run.
US retailers that took them are:
Guilty Party
Iron Shop Provisions
BlackBlue
Tendrel
Wthered Fig -
@Graham IH Hamburg also has stock
-
@Graham @ZackB @guiltyparty Thanks y’all! I was hoping to try them on at SE Austin and get a hands on feel of the fit. Glad to see so many retailers are carrying them. I really like this jacket!

Damn those are flying out of the window
Was looking at "good stock" at release on most size, and now it's almost finished.
This one is really cool, and in fact the first piece that brought me to IH -
@tk303 If it's any help, I'm about 6' & 78kg. Exclusively XL in UHF shirts, as L are too tight in the shoulders & too short in the body & sleeves. In IH denim jackets, I'm L (well, in my 5) which are loose enough & allow a UHF or sweater underneath if needed (although the duck type 3 is snug with a t shirt). I've got N1 & A2 jackets, both in XL because L's were too tight in the shoulders & feel small even with a t shirt. Part of that comes down to style too, I think the N1 looks better a bit looser. So back to the SR, mine's a few years old but sizing looks similar. Again, the L is the right size with a UHF or sweater underneath - the M was too small in the shoulders even with a t shirt. The SR is also a different cut to say, the black 9526PJ, both of which fit perfectly (but different) with a UHF under. However, I had the large SR shortened in the body 1 1/2" because it was just too long for my liking (too much material, felt like a coat). If I could change another thing it would be moving the side pockets 1 1/2"'s closer to the centre front - takes a bit of a yoga stretch to get the hands in there & it's never really comfortable (not sure why they're so far around the sides?).
-
@Marvo thank you for that! How did you have it shortened 1.5", very curious???
-
Well I am between sizes but the XL was out of stock so I bounced on an L before it ran out, too. Fingers crossed the L is the right size! Here are my measurements
19 shoulder
30.5 length
22 chest
21 waist
21 opening
25.5 sleeve
4 3/4 sleeve openingI’m 5’11 and about 175 lbs and even tho my measurements are between sizes it seems, based on a couple responses here, the model used and also talking to IronHeart support that the L is still probably the right fit so feeling good it’ll be the right pick!

Bought a XXXL, after consideration i realised i wanted XXL and all sold out. Lucky me one got back in and i could switch, many thanks IH crew. Guess someone else got lucky and could buy my XXXL.

@tk303 It was a bit of long explanation but I've been wearing it lately so it was front of mind so had the thoughts all ready. It can be a bit of a challenge too, getting the sizing right so if I can help that's a good deed. I'm in Australia & it's not easy to find someone that can sew denim or cares for that matter (they do care about getting paid however). I took it to a proper tailor, he wasn't sure, I explained to him how I think he can do it (seriously, well to be fair he usually does suits). Anyway, I got him to remove the bottom hem, shorten the body, then reattach the hem. He did a good job, complete with a few crooked lines to make it look 'handmade'. I think the original hem was chain stitched but that's just about impossible to get where I am so it was a sacrifice I was willing to make & it's not noticeable. It couldn't be shortened any more as this would've affected the pockets. The only noticeable change apart from a better length is the hem button spacing is different but who'd look at that? Good luck.
