I should’ve clarified, shop app on my phone. Was also in my office with good strong Wi-Fi at the time.
I guess it’s actually called the shop pay app don’t mind me, I’m oldish…

🫶Yeah been overly excited about it since first released. Missed out on all three releases and don everything in my power to be quick.
Never used the shop pay option on site or used the shop pay app to navigate to ship John and bought through there. I was unsure before hand what to use, I knew about shop pay and was going initially for that this time. But before hand when I tried to “fake” order something just to get the steps dialed in, I thought Apple Pay had less steps the shop pay. So I didn’t have the courage to try something else. But maybe it could have helped..? haha I don’t know. The drop would have been hot either way, the amount would had been the same.
Guess it wasn’t my turn. I really hoped it to be, and almost felt like it.
For me the actual confirmation poped up for a split of a milli second so in that heated moment I believed I had manage to buy one.
But just as fast, it went away by itself and said out of stock, unavailable.
So I was left completely shocked. Guess a lot of people had the similar experience.If a fourth time will come, maybe shop pay app is the way?

@northsouthdenimguy no worries! I’ve always had good luck with Apple Pay even on high demand releases but the flannel and this release just weren’t quick enough. The brand continues to gain popularity and I think I need to change my strategy, I’m really interested in a few of the upcoming releases.

@mecken88 haha yea same experience with Apple Pay and the brief confirmation, likely a split second too slow for us for whatever reason. I’m not going for the Patton shirt releasing today but I think I’ll check out the shop pay app during the release to see what it’s like.

I used shop pay too. I think it helps if you’re logged in, have everything dialed into shop pay and also have something else in the cart.. I had a Steinbeck notebook sleeve in my cart when I added the jacket and it worked.. I’ve done that on some previous drops too and I’ve never missed one. I don’t know if that’s actually a thing or pure coincidence

@Brock do you use Shop Pay option on the actual SJ site like just instead of Apple Pay.
Or do you use the actual Shop Pay app and navigate through to ship John within the app and buy the items with the app?

@mecken88 i know you werent asking me, but just to chime in, i just use the shop pay in the checkout on their website and never had any issues getting through, the biggest variable ive noticed is timing the refresh with the loading of the items

@paulmtg I would say the standard boring answering is still to follow the individual size charts of every product, just like Iron heart.
Some SJ stuff fits snug, some fits loose.So in Iron heart I’m a pretty consistent size Large. But in SJ I pend between Medium and Large depending on that individual garment.
All comes down to personal preference how you want the specific garment to fit your body time.So no one answers, is the right answer

@mecken88 also to chime in on this, if you use the shop app it tends to charge you taxes. Going through the shop option on the website (ship John’s) will save you a few bucks. This is my personal experience.

@paulmtg chiming in on this, it depends on which shirts and how you wash them. I have cooked my sashiko to get as much shrink out as possible, and it has absolutely shrunk a good amount. a few of the other shirts i have were a little big when i first got, so i did a warm soak/wash and depending on the material theyre is definitely some shrinkage, some moreso than others

Drove through Portland yesterday and stopped at Ship John and met Mike Elias and chatted with him for a bit and bought a couple things. He is a really cool dude and it really cemented my appreciation for him and his brand. It was great that they had some sample Wills Jackets on display too, was able to try them all on. Thought I'd be a medium but the large was definitely the right size
