IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo
-
How is this jacket compare to 21oz Selvedge Denim Type III Jacket - Indigo IH-526PJ ?
thoughts? -
Totally different animals @Luke_is_back . 21oz is soft and very breathable for a heavyweight. 19oz is hard and unforgiving.
There’s a wealth of information about both jackets if you read their respective threads.
-
@Luke_is_back the 526pj-21oz is heavy but breathable and soft from the first use, the 526l-19oz indigo is very stiff for the first few months, very crispy and easier to fade, they are two jackets at opposite ends, two photos that are not very nice but perhaps the give a bit of an idea:
1- 526pj-21oz;
2-526l-19oz indaco.
P.s. I loved Lefty so much that I got another one yesterday

@Chibs se T3 od on the left, lefty OD on the right. I know this is the non OD thread so apologies for the slight off topic, but the SE collab is slubby and soft from the first wear. The Lod isn't nearly as rigid as I expected it to be though. I'm sure the indigo lefty is much more cardboard like.
-
@Luijim78 Hey, if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for your lefty to start showing fades like that? I recently bought the Self Edge / Iron Heart OD collaboration as well as the 526LOD, and I'm trying really hard not to purchase the indigo 526L, but I've wanted one for awhile and the whole FOMO thing is real. The 526LOD is amazing and is a keeper but I'm still really intrigued with the indigo 526L. Really like the electric blue pops on yours.
-
@Nostradamion It didn't take long, I wore it for 3 months almost every day but the fades appeared after a couple of weeks, if you can get it, I also got the 19oz collaboration with Self Edge indigo but the Lefty was and remains the jacket with my favorite fabric
-
@Nostradamion If it can be useful, here are three comparison photos between the Lefty, the Lefty OD and the 19oz Self Edge (worn only once)
-
Just picked mine up from Self Edge. I knew it would be insanely stiff but really can’t believe how gnarly this fabric is. It’s sweltering here right now; can’t wait for temps to drop and to put some wear on this.

@Luijim78 Thanks for info
Im x-large in 21 oz IH-526PJ, do you recommend large in Lefty?
-
@Luke_is_back Of course, as the guys on the team and the forum suggest, it's imperative to check the measurements in the tables, watch the videos on shrinkage. My size is generally an XS or S in IH jackets. The Lefty is a few cm longer than the 21oz in the same size, probably to "resist" shrinkage after the initial soaking. I have an S and on Friday I bought an XS because I've started wearing my pants less loosely and I no longer need much more length than I did a few years ago. As for the other sizes, the 21oz and the Lefty are quite similar, although, in my opinion, the sleeves of the 21oz are wider. I read that many recommend going up a size, but as usual, it depends a lot on you. If I'm not mistaken, non-pre-washed and non-sanforized jeans were once advertised as garments that could adapt to the body perfectly depending on how they were soaked and agitated. Sorry if I was long-winded but it's very difficult to give advice on size, it's really very subjective and subject to several variables

@Luijim78 Thanks much for your detailed info as well as the comparison pictures. When I was looking at the sizing between the OD Lefty and the Indigo Lefty, it almost looks like I should go with a size smaller in the Indigo, as even with shrinkage, it's still going to be a bit too big. Unfortunately, the smaller size in the Indigo is sold out, so I waited too long to jump on it. Not the end of the world given I have the LOD, but I've always wanted an Indigo Lefty as well. Think I will sell the Self Edge / Iron Heart collaboration jacket so I have the funds available if the Indigo Lefty becomes available at one of Iron Heart's retail partners.
Anyway, thanks again @Luijim78 for your help!!

Man I’m torn between an xl or xxl.
I have:
526pj in XXL
526Lod in XXL (fits smaller than the 526pj)
526jSLBod in XXL (fits similar to Lod)Never had an XL but the measurements should shrink down to the Lod and SLBod that I have.
This is my 526pj:
And 526Lod:

@MassiveThighs I know you have had difficulty in the past picking out jackets, but you seem to know what you like and should go with the size that you think will work.
-
I think both sizes should work out. XXL be slightly roomier while an XL will look more fitted. I kinda want to wear this lefty all season long so maybe I’ll go with the XXL for room to layer.
-
@MassiveThighs Sounds like a plan and you should go for it.

Ordering now, will come back for a fit pic.
