Mizmazzle’s Trip Across the Pond
-
@Mizmazzle good luck and hopefully a bit of time resets the back!! I take hot showers and stretch although it’s tough to know when to call it quits and when to push a little.
Hoping for the best!

Today was ok. I feel a good deal better after a very rough morning. Woke up very stiff and in pain. Things loosened up a good amount with lots of rest and ibuprofen. I was able to go down to the bar and have a couple nice pints and a new single malt pour for dinner. -

@Mizmazzle From time to time we’ve all had to deal with some level of Vacation Adversity. While it sucks, you’re controlling what you can and enjoying yourself,to whatever degree you can. Hope to hear you’re feeling better soon. I don’t even like Scotch, and I’m totally envious.
-
@Mizmazzle glad you are improving and enjoying some fine suds and spirits.
in hopes the back keeps improving and the drinks keep coming
-
@Mizmazzle is it your lumbar spine that hurts? I do these stretches every day to help get blood flow to the back. You can do them lying down in bed to get things loosened up before walking around. They should be helpful if its a muscle issue. But if you've got any nerve related pain I wouldn't do them without medical supervision.
-
@Mizmazzle thanks for the shots of UK , it looked like a happy trip
-
@seawolf oooh! Great recs! I’ll get right to work on those!!
@Jett129 @jdwaid @SKT
Thanks for the pep talks. I’m feeling like I’ve turned the corner a bit. Still not hiking but in good spirits (literally and figuratively) I’m talking it all in stride (ok I’ll stop now)Really does mean a lot being able to vent and share the ups and downs of life with this community and get the proper levels of kindness, support, and piss removed from my whiney ass.
Time to get out and get some shots of Scotland for you all!

@steelworker since being a bit laid up I haven’t had a chance to post pics of the last part of our England trip!! Here ya go!!
-
The last part of our England leg was along the South coast. My friends live in Chudleigh Knighton. Beautiful little country hamlet and minutes from the coast!
Spent the day on their boat and along the “English Riviera!” (This may have been the downfall of my back as the nerve incident happened the day before)
The sunset view from The Brit’s property with a view of Dartmoor National Park in the distance.
Leonard the Cat.

North Scotland Highlands.
I haven’t been able to hike the full sections yet but today marked a huge improvement for me. Was able to do some smaller local hikes of about 2.5 miles. Think I’m going for it tomorrow!! Here’s some great shots from today’s journey. This place is incredible.Bridge of Orchy
Kinghouse
Venison dinner and a few new pours to sample. My favorite of the bunch was the Macallan.
The hand pull cask beers are also quite good!!
Can’t wait for tomorrow!!
-
@Mizmazzle Great to see you out there!
-
@Mizmazzle cask beers are so good!! Which one did you like more?
-
Dunno if they still do it, but there was a place in Denver that used to have live ale on those manual taps/kegs that was decent. Pints pub iirc? Also a pretty impressive single malt collection.
Glad to see you still had some fun while you weren't feeling great but also even happier to see you out on the trail.

@SKT it really was. But I like that peety, smokiness profile in scotch. Gives it that unique taste. I’ll be looking for that in whichever bottle I find to bring home.
@Danimal506 they were both really good. But I preferred the dark ale. Richer, full bodied and so smooth.
