Can anyone comment on the capacity for this jacket to stretch?
I picked up an XXL from Self Edge and I’m not sure if I should keep it or not. The sleeves and shoulders fit well, but it’s a bit snug to actually button it up all the way.
Looks like the 3XL is sold out, but the 19oz SEXIH is available in a bigger size….
Anyone willing to share their thoughts would be much appreciated.

The denim will stretch, but not a full size. Maybe expect 0.25-/0.5" in the chest at the very most

One more quick question about proper sizing etc… hoping to get some help with taking proper measurements.

According to IH, this XXL should measure 23.9" in the chest. According to Self Edge, it should be around 22.5" (taking their 45" and dividing by two so we are comparing apples to apples)

This is the jacket I received, maybe you can tell me which way I should be measuring? If I lay the jacket out and measure from seam to seam across the chest, I get 22"

            IMG_2520.jpeg
            IMG_2521.jpeg

I know this looks pretty close to the 22.5 that SE claims, but the tape starts at the left hand seam and my measurement stops where the right hand seam falls. If I move the tape all the way over and measure edge to edge how the jacket lays, I get something closer to 23.5".

            IMG_2522.jpeg
            IMG_2523.jpeg

Which method should I be using to measure the chest size of these jackets? Would you say this jacket has a 22" chest or a 23.5"?

Did I just happen to receive a jacket with smaller chest measurements? Hoping that SE can help me find one just a bit bigger. Is that a seasonable expectation?

Thank you for reading. Also worth mentioning, this piece is amazing. Thanks to everyone who built up this thread and helped me decide to pull the trigger on this one.

@mxhansen edge to edge is how tops are measured, I’ve never seen seam to seam used. Also make sure the pit area is laid flat and make sure any fabric creases are pulled out to get a full, flat measurement. So this is measuring around that 23.5 inch mark.

@mxhansen you should measure it the way the store you bought it from measures them.

@americanathreads thanks for the reply. Is it safe to say that I should size up if this is feeling a touch small?

@mxhansen pics will help for sure. Fwiw I've taken the below advice any time I've questioned any article for clothing for more than 5 min since last year. Also helps to remember with these being hand made products size charts only capture an average and not every individual piece of clothing so if you can, try to request the measurements of the garment that'll be shipped to you.

I would size up if I were you, but I know you don’t want to do that. Does it look fine? Yes. But if it bugs you already, you’re never going to be satisfied with it, and you know it.

It’s pretty close to fitting the way I like, and I’m maybe 5lb over my preferred weight (200lb). Just feels a smidge small and unlikely that I can wear a hoodie under come winter.

Would appreciate honest opinions, thank you.

@mxhansen very subjective but does appear a little snug through the chest area. My 2 cents would be the next size up especially if that is your initial concern and have thoughts of wearing more than just a tee under. Sleeves appear long currently and may be your hang up on sizing up but that will be alleviated if you button the sleeves and set stacks/creases along the inner elbow.

@mxhansen as always fit is subjective and you need to be comfortable. Over a t-shirt and I think the fit is great with no excess overhang on the shoulders or torso. Sleeves will shorten some with wear and as the creases set. If you’re going to wear it for 4 seasons with the intent of a sweatshirt underneath, then it may be small. However, most of us have a few type 3’s for those purposes.

In my opinion, it’s a keeper.
