I dunno if yall do serious shit in here but
We hadn’t had the death conversation with my four year old yet and my aunt took it upon herself to have it without our knowledge or consent, spontaneously, without any forethought or consideration. He flipped out after and later that night started screaming in a panic “we’re all gonna die.” We’ve had to do some major damage control and not only make a game plan for how we want to frame it but also unwind the shit she did. We’re on the other side of it now and we’re good, just wanted to share a couple things that helped immensely.

I had a conversation with ChatGPT where I asked about quantum mechanics, quantum physics, simulation theory, basically the nature of reality as the leading minds in these theories understand it today, drilled down from that and asked, ok, if we take these things as truth, what does this mean for the nature of death and what could potentially happen to our consciousness after death. Then asked it to condense this down to a digestible form that a four year old could understand. Wild ride and super interesting read for grown ass adults but also super helpful for my kid.

@chillmonroe I remember having the talk, didn't use chat GPT for help, but the circle of life or "the Tree" it uses in one of the examples was the main part of it. Very helpfull stuff.

Nothing to report parenting-wise yet but our baby Jack Hickory is 20 weeks and one day old in utero. Halfway there, Amanda is feeling kicks when we lay down for bedtime. I felt one last night! It was so cool to make contact!

Thanks all! It took over a year of trying this time (and, of course, happened naturally as soon as we dropped thousands of monies on a course of IVF) so we're pretty stoked.
@Oaktavia Yep, the very end of Nov or the beginning of Dec. Kinda cool that we'll be going through it at the same time, if you ask me. I've mostly forgotten what those early days and weeks are like, so it'll be good to have the refresher course of your experience to remind me!

Heck yeah dude I agree, it is cool that we'll be going through it at the same time. Amanda is starting to really feel kicks and headbutts on her belly as of late. I know nothing but early to mid days at this point. It has been really fun and quite the learning experience.

Pro-tip: go to parenting classes near you if you can. It's not for the information necessarily, which can all be found online. It's to get access to a ready-made, local network of other parents who will be going through the same first-baby thing at the same time as you. Mrs H said that the best thing about it was having a WhatsApp group set up afterwards where if she was up feeding the baby at 3am she knew there was a good chance that at least one of the other new mums would be in the same situation, and they could keep one another sane.
