Nice pickup! I was eyeing that pair as well but it's definitely much too big for my size. I'm also curious how long it lasts
-
@FireGX @northsouthdenimguy I have had a mini ripple pair of 2030 Vibergs for at least 6 years, they are holding up nicely. They are worn in rotation of course but seem pretty hard wearing.
-
@Denman-John really nice boots, what last and make up are these?
-
I’ve put some serious wilderness miles on these boots in the last year or so that I’ve had them. Other than a fairly steep break in on the most rugged of terrain, I’ve loved them…except the shite “commando” sole on them. The spacing on the lugs are such that pebbles and snow pack and mud just build up and make those conditions awful to hike/ walk in. Plus, the lug doesn’t go all the way out to the edge of the sole and causes a bit of roll off on rocky terrain that can and has led to some ankle roll.
Today I sent them off to Unsung to have a Vibram 100 put on them. My favorite all terrain sole! Have a big fishing trip planned for next Friday. Dude says he thinks they might be able to have em back to me in time!! Fingers crossed!!!
-
@Mizmazzle that’s awesome, glad you finally did it. They’re going to be perfect when you get them back. What is the wait time on the resole?
-
@Mizmazzle hell yeah man, that is super quick. Hopefully you get them before your trip.

@stitchdown-shell Very nice!

@stitchdown-shell Just bought my 1st pair (2030) - the feel of the leather is great but the smell... that is something else.

Congrats on your pair! What leather did you go with? Love the smell of fresh leather.

@ZackB they say it’s a one week turnaround once they receive them (and your scheduled appointment time has arrived.)
I told him about my trip and he said he could make it happen. I won’t be mad if it doesn’t happen, but I will be STOKED if it does!!I went to Viberg a couple of summers ago. Very hospitable folks there and it was great to visit the place where all the magic happens!
We took one of the small single engine charter planes from Vancouver to the island. It’s well worth it!
-
@will6er Classic! I've had a pair for a few years and they're holding up great
-
@Brandrea that sounds really cool. Would love to visit them one day.
-
@ZackB well worth the trip! There’s a lot to do on the island as well!

@Mizmazzle Love those boots of yours. I agree that the Commando sole isn’t ideal, but I’ll probably keep them on until they wear down. Traction wise I found them great while trekking in Nepal - many rock “staircases” along with dirt paths in mostly dry conditions. They definitely don’t like mud and try to avoid it for the most part, but sometimes shit happens. They do pick up pebbles in the tread but doesn’t bug me until I can hear/feel them. I just pick it out and move on. The boots are so comfortable and I can wear them all day with no problem. I’ll probably go the same route as you are when it comes time to resole them. When I know I’ll be going out in ugly conditions, I grab my Redwings with a heavy lug sole and forget about it. Looking forward to seeing pictures once back from the cobbler!
-
@Denman-John thanks dude. I’m stoked to get the beefier sole on them. I too have some red wings I put a Vibram 100 on and they are unstoppable. So having that sole on these boots…should be unstoppable.
