Today felt like a good day to take some progress photos. Dusted them off and put them outside on the picnic table and the grass. Slightly different color variation going on depending whether or not the sun was behind the clouds.

100 wears since Halloween which was coincidentally exactly 180 days from yesterday. These have now been hand washed and are hang drying. I plan to do the same with my 888UHR today.

@Oaktavia I just got a pair of these last week, and half the reason I wanted them was A: I wanted to try 25oz and B: I'm obsessed with seeing your updates on these! Am I correct in saying you've had a few pairs of these? I saw you got paint on a pair iirc...

                      Thanks for sharing dude!

@Jord hey dude- solid choice on picking up a pair of these. They are IMO the absolute best denim IH makes. Yes, I have two pairs of the 888XHSib and in the past I had a pair of them in 555 and 777. I'll update in a few days when my main pair of 888XHSib is dry and I have had a chance to reset the creases.

@Oaktavia would love to see a tutorial on how you reset the crease for the honeycombs. For me, the whiskers always go right where they were, but the honeycombs have shifted on every pair of jeans I have.

@talexander I don't do a whole lot, just lots of squats and bending my knees when I first put them on. Eventually, the creases end up back where they were for the most part. The key to creases returning to where they were is wearing the jeans long enough without washing first. The creases need to be built into the memory of the denim. This takes time...@Giles is better at explaining this than I am.

Not sure that I can explain it better. You just need to build the memory into the creases before you wash/soak, to avoid creasing in other places

@Giles @Oaktavia Thank you for the reply gentlemen. I must be do something wrong...I wore a pair of 888XHSib 5 days a week for pretty close to 8 months before I washed them. Did the squats, and all the others things I thought/read would "set them" or "build the memory" and they shifted. Maybe it's the washing machine even though it was delicate with no spin. I have a pair of 21OD I'm working on. Think I'll try hand washing and see if that makes a difference. Thanks again for your reply and have a great day!

@talexander I'm not nearly as experiences at the fellas below, so take this for what you will... I believe how tight you wear your jeans makes a big difference. It makes sense to me that looser jeans would give less contrast in the fades because a baggier fit doesn't force the same creases over and over in the beginning.

@Go-For-Chill that depends on the fabric. I have a pair of 634 XHS with super stiff 25oz that are the widest legged jeans I have that have large, prominent creases and fades all throughout it. Even with a few washes, the combs and whiskers line up well. This is not the same as my wabash overalls, they have zero honeycomb creases, but a few lap fades...

@Oaktavia Would it be a sound hypothesis to say that heavy fabric and tighter fits both contribute to higher contrast fades? That would mean that a heavy fabric might make up for a looser fit, and a tighter fit might make up for a thinner fabric, but all other factors (washing) being equal, a light weight fabric on a loose fitting jean would give the least contrast in the fades?

Lightweight fabrics such as the 14oz denim can still lend their way to high contrast fades. In fact, some of the highest contrast fades I have seen on here were 14oz indigo/black denim. The common denominator for high contrast fades is lots and lots of wear with occasional washes.

My hypothesis is that there are multiple factors that contribute to high contrast fades. Wear, initial wash time, wash frequency, fabric weight, and fit. Obviously the wash factors being primary, but all factors contributing to some extent. Again, I'm still learning, so this is me learning. It's not said in any way from the position of an expert.
