this is a house sparrow nest
If it is, it's a teenager.....

Speaking of bird's nests, we've had a little hummingbird right outside of our front door, and a few weeks ago her eggs hatched and we got to watch her babies grow up and fledge the nest. This is the day they learned how to fly, and they never came back. We think mom (we named her Josie) is back to lay another round of eggs because she started spending a lot of time in the nest again last week.

Josie keeps a very tidy home!

@mclaincausey I think hummingbird nests are bound with spider webs, so it's indeed very tidy!

Great post @seawolf !

@Oaktavia We love the hummingbirds around here. Josie gets territorial sometimes (her nest is safely inside of a bush, but right next to our front door) and she'll protect her nest with a move that we've dubbed "buzzing the tower" where she flies really close to us and we hear the insanely fast flapping (buzzing) of her wings.

@Giles house finch my mistake. I just got a visual on one of em. Pretty bad photo because I had to use zoom from an awkward position not to scare her off!
-
@mclaincausey Awesome!
-
@twin excellent job spotting it! Did it wake up/stir when you got so close up for the pic?
-
@motojobobo No it did not wake up.
-
@sabergirl And cute also.
