Are the IH 14oz denim good for summer? I’ve heard mixed reviews. For reference, I live in the Midwest, USA so it can get hot and humid.

@GardenState I have a pair of the 14oz in the 555 cut (on left) and 21oz, in the 777 cut (the 14oz I have had probably 6 months longer), and if I'm honest I havent really noticed any difference when I wear them in the summer from a breathability aspect - the tighter weave counter balances the denim weight - but the 14oz I do find a bit more comfortable in the summer to move around in (cycling etc) which you tend to do as you are out and about more. @ssherman95 id say 16, 18, and 21oz, generally in that order, are all better and more breathable than the 14oz which is pretty tightly woven and hard faced. I recall the 14IB in particular being pretty hot when new. ymmv.

for jeans that are sanforized but unwashed do these need to be washed before wearing to prevent the fades from shifting?

They don’t need to be, but our advice is to soak/wash first to bed in constructional stitching before wearing

If the jeans have been sanforised then fade shift will be virtually zero.

I'm thinking about washing a never washed IH indigo shirt together with an old pair of IH jeans. Is there anything that speaks against that? I mean would you suggest washing them separately in the machine?

@Alex been wondering about the denim bottoms production backlog… I remember you discussing it on the podcast a while back and I’ve been wondering if it is getting sorted as time passes. @Giles @Alex is the indigo/indigo duck that is used for the DD jacket the same 16.5/17.5 raw cotton that was used for the pants? In which case, would one treat a jacket of that fabric as raw (following the UHR instructions)?

Yes, I had this jacket and I treated as raw, and got decent shrink from it
