I like my $300 jackets to fit properly. I’m funny that way.

@UnTucked i noticed you bought a medium but shrunk it accidentally. If the M was too big what size did you normally wear?

Alas I’m looking for the jacket not the vest.

Is there a list of things @ShopatIronHeart might be expecting for delivery, either new or restock, in March and April?

@Matt we haven't had an update since early Jan, so our data is quite inaccurate at the moment. I've asked for an update, so hopefully we get one soon.

Once we finally migrate to shopify, after sorting out extinct, the first priority will be better integrated restock timing on the site

That’s cool, thanks. I know stock timing is a fickle issue but I’m really struggling to find something to use my voucher on and I don’t want it to go to waste.

I just bought a pair of iron hearts. Cannot return them. Pants are 1.5 inches to wide at the waste but the length is perfect. How should I shrink the pants without effecting the length?

                        Thanks.

That’s a tough one. Kettle of hot water on the waist in a soaking vessel followed by a bunch of agitation?

                          Think it, be it.

@Iammalone I have moved your question to here.

As to shrinking, the first question is what pants are they? Some pants will not shrink, some will shrink and only be temporary, and some will shrink.

1.5 inches is a lot to ask for almost any pant, and you may have better luck trying to sell them on the secondary market and reclaiming some of your money.

Your other option is to take them to a tailor and see if they can take them in.

So for the flannels with the selvedge detail, I have to ask... Was the flannel fabric made from a shuttle loom?

Hi, how do you decide on the size of the pockets on ih jeans?
I only have one pair (so far! Waiting for the non fade black to arrive), 634 ib
Pockets seem much smaller than my other jeans (Hiut jeans ), both in the depth of the front pockets and the size of the back pockets.
                                      Thanks

Basically what Haraki thinks is the most suitable/functional/visually attractive. May not be what everyone likes , but he’s designed well over 5,000 jeans in his career, and what we seel is the culmination of those decades of experience.

@Cymro it is something of a game to guess at Haraki-san’s design choices. It has been suggested (probably by me), that the small front pockets are due to the fact that bikers don’t keep shit in them. When you’re sat on a bike a lot, it gets in the way and would be uncomfortable.

This is also the popular rationale for the widely spaced and lined back pockets. Bikers do keep shit there, so they’re strengthened and moved to where you won’t sit directly on your stuff when straddling a saddle.

On a personal note, stuff in front pockets does tend to spoil the aesthetics of the top block. This will be a concern for some, while others won’t care.

                                          Edit:

I’ll add that the first Hiut cuts were fairly relaxed jeans with a lot of associated work wear marketing. The aesthetics were very «do mucky, handy stuff in your jeans». I had a pair and the pockets were deep and large as you say. I suspect the design choices there was «keep all your stuff in your pockets». In fact I recall it being a point that you could get your iPhone into the front pockets easily. So horses for courses…?
