Edit: actually don’t ask…I mean Sabrina Carpenter made it into my Spotify wrapped if that tells you something ugh

@SKT 😂 yeah man she's already a minor Swiftie but loves REM, the Beatles, and Phish too.

A friend of mine is a professional guitarist and one of his side projects is a band that does Taylor Swift songs for kids. So they'll have like the parachute, limbo, etc for the kids and drinks for the adults. We have also gone to ones for Phish and the Dead and I hope to make it to a Beatles one. I actually enjoy even the Swift kids shows. I don't enjoy her studio stuff but I can deal with it for Hattie.

Late to the halftime show talk but wanted to throw my comments in the mix!
I’ve hit the unfortunate point in life where finding new music/artists that turn me up too much a chore and am mostly content w what is currently in the library. Not so stuck in my middle aged ways to deny that there will always be brilliant young talent but again requires too much effort to not only uncover these artists but more so find that anything truly worth enjoying takes multiple views or listens to appreciate the creativity of what your consuming and find that I simply do not give things as much a chance these days.
Back to Kendrick Lamar. I knew who he was (did not know of said Drake beef nor care too much for it albeit mildly amusing) and have heard his music but never knowing who the artist was. Suffice to say it did not really grab me nor was I in an environment to give it much a chance/mostly just heard his stuff in passing and kept it moving. Well along come the Super Bowl halftime show and holy shit what a performance. I was not sure if I loved it or hated it when i saw it live but it no doubt demanded your attention and sure as hell thought about it later. Each subsequent watch had me more and more on board. Now?!? Can NOT get that last song out of my head (nor do I want to) and find my 40 year old white ass shuffle walking all over the place.

Live I thought the audio was muddled but I did rewatch on Apple Music and it was so much more enjoyable.

Kind of a shame the beef is distracting from all the other things he was saying and the performers were doing. It’s the least subversive part of the whole affair.

I prefer manual transmissions and think we’d be better off without or with fewer automatic transmissions, as they abet distracted driving. It forces you to be more present as a driver to be more engaged with the car.

@goosehd agreed and especially on “sports” cars. Having a manual did suck in stop and go traffic in Atlanta though but definitely way more fun.

@mclaincausey those were the days and great point on distracted driving. Few things more satisfying than going through the gears. Also loved how people’s “cadence” w the clutch varied almost like a persons signature.

Yeah, I can almost guarantee that if I get into a car without reversing beepers, I'll hit something 🙂

In @Giles post the other day regarding his Grandfather’s cars, one of the things I noticed was quite a few of them (probably most) had sliding mesh gear boxes. When you think about him racing around in those cars and the damage that could be done by one missed shift makes you appreciate how easy we have it today.

On a daily driver, hard disagree. My level of engagement doesn’t change one bit, and I don’t have to change gear 1000 times an hour in heaven traffic.

On a fun vehicle where the drive is the point, not the destination then sure, manual is better.

I really miss a manual in the car, but at least I still have the motorcycles. 🙂
