Been on a Chicago blues kick from the Sympathy for the Drummer book, overcoming recent biases towards the Delta and hill blues of my home state. It’s like hearing it all over again. Bad fucking ass.

@Jett129 he has some stone cold takes. I loved him ripping on the Doors’ and Cream’s odd blues pretensions and really didn’t have the historical context of the “safeness” and parental compatibility of the Beatles since my view looking back always included their psychedelic era.

I really did love that book and all the music it led me to revisit. One thing I remember was the love shown to Charle Connor…didn’t the author reference his intro to Little Richard’s “Keep a Knockin”? Which Bonham basically lifted? I could be misremembering.
