@Daniel-San Yeah, i've been wearing this thing on average about 5 hours per day, i'd say, for a full month now, and it is squeaky as hell. It doesn't bother me that much, but it's received noise complaints haha

As much as I love this thing, that isn't my only issue. If I were to nitpick:
1: The leather thickness DOES vary a lot. And some of the thickest bits are a bit awkward. For example, the front panel of the right arm is noticeably thinner than the left, but all other panel thicknesses are symmetrically consistent. I wish the upper pockets were as thin as the lower ones, because they're much thicker. Also the inside leather lining at the lapel area is SUPER thick, like 2x, that should be some of the thinnest imo.
2: The sleeves are about .75" shorter than advertised. I think they're good length for comfort, and would probably be bad if they were actually 26" because the cuff would dig into my wrist, and i can tell they're long enough because i have creasing over the cuff, but that's a big inconsistency. If they didn't cover my wrist bone, I would have sent it back tho for being so far off chart.

Having said all that, I'm glad its not perfect. If it were, I'd be more worried about messing it up. As it stands, I'm being pretty rough with it actually. It's breaking in nicely, i like the creases, and the way it 'drapes' now, although this leather is absolutely NOT soft lol. The only other horsehide i've handled is the Mad Red, and that was much more drapey. I love this thing though, and I still dont want to take it off.

Lets see some more pics of yours, Dan!

the sleeve measurements are really an issue.
Not with this one , but with the rough out I have. The sleeves are much longer than it says on the chart, huge difference. That’s why I am selling it 😕.

Just did a close inspection of mine , and I couldn’t find any difference in thickness. Besides the lower pockets as mentioned before.

@Daniel-San lookin good. Again, all my comments are nitpicking, obviously nothing is going to be perfect. I'm probably exaggerating the leather inconsistencies. Yours looks exactly like mine with the texture variations and stiff lapel area. Is your stitching also getting fuzzy? Not fraying or anything yet, but its gotten really fuzzy. Anyway, just comparing notes.

didn’t notice any fuzziness at the stitching so far .
The chore is a great shacket for sure , but when comparing it to my type 1 from Y2 the Type 1 is made better and the leather is much nicer . And the double helix I have is even better than the Type 1 , awesome leather and superb finish. Definitely the absolute grail is the Flat Head leather and quality, but of course it’s a lot more expensive .

@WhiskeySandwich Mad Red is Goatskin, might explain the difference! Crazy soft, I miss it...

exactly Tom 👍, huge difference between horse and goat. Had an awesome G1 in goatleather 10 years ago and it was super soft compared to horse. really loved that one , but the cat destroyed one sleeve 🤦‍♂️😳

Really debating between the Kakishibu Vs Black chore… My heart says Kakishibu, it’s currently out of stock with no ETA for a new preorder. I’m also between sizes…

Crossing my fingers I will be able to snag one of the Kakishibus when the first order arrives.

But really have started to fall for this one too! Can one own both??😊

@nrtphotos @mecken88 I like this thing so much that I'd totally also own a kakashibu. I may get one down the road, but i want to focus on this one for a good bit. If you're between sizes, I'd definitely recommend going with the larger.

@nrtphotos the preorders for the Kakishibu window have already gone by brother. TJ released a limited of 10 jackets 19 October 2024 that was release for summer of 2025.

Haven’t heard any teaser that more will come. Probably because the most recent pre orders is not done yet.

But no one knows, time will tell. Hope you get another chance man!🫶😊

He apparently has five extras in case people need to exchange. I’m hoping I can nab one of those…

@nrtphotos oh yeah, your are right. For the potential exchanges of sizing. And then he puts those 5 extras on the site after all in the clear.
                              5 is better than none!!

Hope one of them are your size and you manage to snag one!🤘😎

Just fyi, if you live in the US… currently there are custom charges for incoming shipments from Canada for orders over $800. I paid an additional $163 in fees for the $1847 Kakishibu chore I got in ~7/2024. Trump pushed back the increased 25% tariffs by 30 days, so now is the time to buy from them, before we’re paying ~$500 in fees on TJ’s typical jacket

Been wearing this Tom Western a lot recently. Love the character that’s developing throughout the shacket. It definitely still has some sheen and squeakiness to it.
