@Brian it only got up to 37°C here in Regional Victoria today, but I share your pain. Especially when Australian builders seem incapable of constructing a house that is suited to the climate.

@louisbosco I feel your pain. I lost my mother to cancer eleven years ago, my father is (probably) in remission, but an aunt has recently been given twelve to eighteen months. All three are probably younger than your friend's mother, but it sucks in all cases.

Groundhog Day is such a ridiculous superstition. I love the movie with Bill Murray, but probably thanks to it, I can't stand the tradition. It's absolutely preposterous.

As a native Pennsyvanian, I've grown to mostly view Groundhog Day as the world's yearly reminder that we're a bunch of hicks. But hey, it's also just a bit of silly fun!

@Graeme from what my mate told me, I think the worst part was that she had her ovaries removed but then it relapsed/ spread about a year later. my grandfather, thankfully, is doing good many years on after they removed part of his liver due to cancer..

@louisbosco I'm glad that your grandfather is doing well. The liver can regrow, so it might have regenerated the removed portion.

For the other travellers/tourists I can say they are better mannered than last year but there are a few standouts for the wrong reasons.
