I'm just interested in Haraki's thought process here and also in general when it comes to making decisions such as making a over b. Otherwise, obviously I'm fully aware of the point that IH can and does produce whatever it wants and that people can and do buy whatever they want. Not my point at all.
The "demand/popularity" point in my post wasn't about the number of sales. I think that IH has a lot of type III offerings in terms of fabrics, color options, etc. and it appeared intuitive to me that Haraki (or you guys) would choose to expand that offering by adding a sashiko type III jacket rather than a vest which - correct me if I'm wrong - in comparison appeals to a smaller, more niche audience. Hence my curiosity regarding his thought process when he makes these kinds of decisions.

I am one of those niche vest guys. One of the first non-jeans IH pieces I picked up over a decade ago was the IHV-02. At the time, it was sold out and I had to wait for what seemed like a year for a restock. It eventually restocked (after pinging Giles multiple times about when) and I picked it up. Still have it and wear it with regularity to this day. This new IHV-50 may be vying for the top spot in my vest rotation. That is assuming I am able to nab one on release day.

Any size recommendations for someone who wears an XXL typically in Iron Heart shirts? (Just generally for vests)

@Luijim78 Hoping the release has at least 2 in size XS - this is a must for me too - and there’s also that third member who beat us both to the only size xs of the narrow hickory vest release. So, I’m not getting my hopes up and will expect I won’t win out on this ordering timing battle again - so I won’t feel so disappointed when it’s all over. Hopefully we both are able to get this one this time.

@bluemantra Really depends on the measurements of the piece being sold. Too hard to tell at this point.

FWIW I have preferred to size down on IH vests in the past, if the length will allow. The p2p is larger usually, because the armholes are cut lower. I do also like a trim vest over a tee or thin shirt, so ymmv if you want to layer more. Measurements will tell more of the story when they come out.

I still don't feel great about snagging the lone XS narrow hickory vest, but it did end up fitting me the way I like. I have IH vests in both XS and S and they all fit just slightly different, but being in between the two sizes generally allows me to make either one work one way or another.
I'm also hoping that there will be enough in the smaller sizes for each of us. But let's just wait to see the dimensions and we'll go from there.
I won't be going for the upcoming IHV-03-BRN, so at least that will be one vest where we won't be fighting over.

I wear mine with a light/medium tucked in tee, sometimes under an open shorter length jacket.
With this setup, I can wear a tee to the office and not feel out of place. And I like being able to show the belt.
On rare occasions I may wear it over a button up shirt, but it must be slim fitting, light weight, and a solid color.

@isXnext no need to feel bad - you should always go for the size that fits best. I have most of the vests and am a solid size XS in all of them, so I’m assuming the same with this one; the size Small would be too big for my short and thin stature. If for some reason it would be sized smaller than normal, would probably work to our advantage in terms of quantity with us competing for the size Small - but IH has been fairly consistent with the vest dimensions from my experience. Fingers crossed that there’s enough quantity in size XS for the three of us or that dimensions work out that someone is in a size Small instead. Time will tell.
