@Jett129 that’s about as good a summary as I can think of. Experience and coaching go a long way in the playoffs. Not to mention home field.

It’s also about scheme and strategy. Ravens were plenty well coached last year but failed to win the conference because they didn’t lean into what was working for their offense (rushing) and needlessly turned it into an air raid.

This year they’re stronger on rushing and passing offense and unless they repeat those strategic mistakes I expect them to prevail over a comparatively weaker Chiefs squad, assuming they get by Houston and Buffalo, respectively.

        Think it, be it.

So many of these games come down to someone making a mistake. How does Pete Carroll not just hand the ball off to Marshawn Lynch, after he had just ran the ball down to the 2 yard line. He thought he was slick, but Malcom Butler had practiced that when they line up like that,It's a pass, and the rest is history. Steve Spagnola even said in interviews he never understood why The Ravens stopped running the ball. Lamar did miss a couple of throws, they had a fumble, and lo and behold you get beat by a seemingly inferior team.

A first year defensive coordinator experiencing growing pains was the reason for the first half of the season being sketchy. They brought in Dean Pees to straighten him out and now they’re back in business. Also, Lamar’s mom told him to run more. Problem solved.

God the whole world minus Pete Carroll was in disbelief at that play call. Not only was it perhaps the worst play call in league history from a strategy perspective (and I’d love to hear some other candidates from y’all), it also felt like a slap in the face to Marshawn, kind of like Refrigerator Perry scoring a touchdown when Walter Payton didn’t in SB XX.

                  Think it, be it.

Crazy to hear on DC radio this morning that Commanders/Lions tickets are priced close to the Super Bowl for Saturday's game. I'll be watching but from my living room of course.

@Jett129 I’m not a Seahawks fan. I am a Marshawn fan though. And kind of a Patriots hater because they won their first two SB at least on Vinatieri’s foot after having cheated by filming opponent walkthroughs. So that’s two SB that they very likely wouldn’t have won if they hadn’t cheated. Then Carroll gives them another. So half of their championships are partially attributable to cheating and the opponent gifting them a game. That’s just too close to fraudulence to sit right with me, and I haven’t even mentioned DeflateGate.

Absolute respect for what the defense did during that dynasty though.

                            Sue me, Pats fans.

And as for Petes blunder for not running it, not enough credit is given to Bill for looking across the field and realizing the Seahawks were waiting on the Pats to call a timeout. Bill and his humongous stones, not only prepped for the situation but did not follow norms by not calling the timeout. IMO played a large part in this terrible playcall.

I have to say that after watching Bill Belichick on the Manning Cast this season,I’m totally in awe of his football mind. Whenever he came on that show he knew everything about every player on every team. He never mailed it in. Whenever he commented on the player’s actions what they should be doing versus what they were doing he was 100% always right.

I mean the Hawks still had a timeout so I think that looks like genius only in hindsight. Had the Seahawks simply run the ball into the end zone it would have looked pretty bad to let those seconds elapse.

Disagree man. BB Dr Stranged the shit out of that situation. There was under a minute left in the game, Pats are not getting the ball back w enough time to score, regardless of stopping the clock. Obvs Hawks should not have passed and called their own timeout but truly feel they froze under the pressure… you have to chalk some of that up to BB. AND Hawks should never have had that field position w that ridiculous Kearse catch (and do not get me going on David Tyree)… either way, much respect to a brain that zigs when everyone else’s zags.

Yeah I’ll disagree on that and what you think is genius could just as easily have been rolling over, but where I think the zig v zag admiration is warranted is things like going for it when the statistics say yes but everyone else says you’re crazy. He was a pioneer in the NFL as far as opting for statistics over loss aversion. NFL coaches were making the wrong choice in those scenarios 90% of the time. Bellichick got beat up for it but the league has since started to lean into economics more so that figure has probably gone down.

High school coach Kevin Kelley deserves the credit for bringing this approach into football, and Bellichick deserves the credit for paying attention and having the guts to try it. He doesn’t deserve credit for Carroll making a dumb decision.
