@schraiber That looks great! Did you find the waist stretched out over time or stayed the same? Trying to get a sense of what to expect on my first pair. TY

@schraiber That's interesting as I was thinking of potentially sizing down with the 1" inch stretch that tends to happen

@meltdown It definitely stretched a bit, and I priced that in, but I think I may have been a slight bit too hopeful. Honestly, it's a situation where it's basically fine if I'm not tucking a shirt in, but it's just slightly uncomfortable when I am tucking.

For contrast, I have these in size 33 and they're maybe 16.75 inches flat, while I have a pair of 888 ducks in 34 that are maybe 17 inches flat, and the ducks are significantly more comfortable just with that quarter inch flat/half in total.

100 wears, ready for wash 3. Catching these up to my other 21oz pairs for a 3 way comparison. Shitty photos for now but I’ll take some more after the wash.

@Oaktavia yeah after the the ib and sbg, going 100 wears without a wash I realized it doesn’t seem to make that much of a difference for fades, but I had some fray deterioration that was probably from the buildup. I figured some gentle handwashing would help with longevity. My current thinking is it’s best to do a soapy soak and thorough rinse every 30-40 wears. It’s so easy to just not wash tho lol, I could easily go to the death and not wash. Worrying about fade drift or marbling or fit adjustments seems dumb, but the jeans want a wash if they’re going to last long.

@Oaktavia another thought on the fades-per-wash thing: after I hit 100 on the ib, I wore 7 days and washed, then another 7 and washed again, and maybe it’s my wash method but it doesn’t seem to affect fades at all. Cold soak 20 mins. Drain tub, fill with hot, add about a tablespoon of soap as it fills. Let sit for 20, lift, set, lift, set, drain. Rinse hot, repeat lifts. Hang dry. It’s minimal agitation I guess. Works for me!

                        Move to “duds in suds”?

After much thought between buying the 888s or the 888 XHSib, I finally went with the 888s because I was curious about Iron Heart’s OG fabric.

Right now, I’ve been wearing the 666XHS for 11 months. How’s the fit? I went with a size 30—I’m 64kg and 180cm tall.

It's hard to tell from photos some times but they look comfy.. It also looks like you can size down one if you like a tighter fit. The 888's is pretty forgiving. If you like a slightly looser fit you are on the money

Yeah, totally get that! I actually love the current fit. Comfy with just the right amount of room. The 888s really hit the sweet spot

After wearing XHS, the 888s feel so smooth, especially when buttoning up

Oh yeah the 21oz is much easier to deal with. No breaking period needed. Comfortable out of the box and they get better with wear. Enjoy

Alex, I'm considering the 888 in a couple different denims (21oz, 18oz, and UHR). Does IH account for variances in stretch in its sizing? In other words, would you order the same size in each denim, or go smaller for a stretchier denim like the 21oz vs. larger on the stiffer, tighter-woven UHR?

We always advise on a approximate 1" stretch with our sanforised and one-washed denim. Unfortantly it is not an exact science.

Rather than by tag size alone, one will want to order the tag sizes based on the actual waist measurement, factoring in how the denim will behave.

The 888s-21 and 888s-18 are both going to stretch approxinatly 1" in the waist with wear. The UHR is going to shrink when you first wash / soak it (you have to do this before wear) and then with wear will stretch back out to pre-wash sizing.

I would measure the waist of something that fits you well using our how we measure guide to lock in an actual measurement that works for you and factor in all of the above.
