@Chaintitch I think gortex is breathable this isn’t but it’s waterproof with sealed pockets,I think it’s pretty close,I used to work for timberland boots about 20 years ago and they specialised in quite a lot of gortex stuff

I’m an IH customer and unaware of details on where and how these are being made.

However, I own (and have owned) a lot of gore-tex since I backcountry ski and backpack in the Pacific Northwest. I sincerely can’t tell the difference between the IHJ-136 fabric and 2.5L Paclite goretex. Just that it doesnt have gore branding…which doest matter much anymore since their patent has expired.

I’ve also not yet had chance to perspire in this coat and couldnt confirm if it’s like wearing a plastic bag.

regardless, it doest matter much to me. I’m not planning on exercising in this jacket .For me it’s going to replace these White Mountaineering paclite shells that been using over the past 7+ years.

@Boit Thanks for sharing the fit pic. Looks like a great fit! How did you end up sizing this? TTS or size down?

@long_john86 Thanks for saying so. I sized down and took a medium in this. I took a chance against better judgement…dimensions looked good to me based on measuring my exemplar garment. In pic Im wearing the longest and widest shirt I own (XL 295ib). Possibly my TTS would have also worked for me?

If I were you, I would size to sleeve length. annoying if sleeves too short. esp on these type of overcoat jackets.

People. I am sorry for the confusion surrounding the breathability or not of this jacket. I have checked with Japan and it IS breathable. It is an eVent type construction.

I have deleted the contradictory post above. Especially mine, where I stated it is non-breathable.

It stood up really well. It is always either on me or in my bag when I fish. I have it with me in Greece atm, but I suspect it wont get used

No idea how many times I have worn this. But I do know I that I have spent many an hour rolling around in the bottom of a boat wearing it....It goes over the top of my chest waders and under a fishing vest/floatation device when fishing in UK....

How did you go about washing this thing, @Giles ? The usual cold wash and hang dry?
