New King Gizzard makes me a happy boy.

Listened 3x already, love the concept and general feeling of it all. Very accessible too, and probably the first of their records I might be able to get my dad into 🙏

Opening track really sets the scene...

“𝑁𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑙𝑒𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑏 𝑦𝑜𝑢. 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒𝑒𝑡 𝑖𝑡, 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑜, 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑎𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑐ℎ 𝑡𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑚 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑡.”

Was going to share this before but I was reminded by the current discussion on @endo’s thread - this always makes me think of @Mizmazzle and @Oaktavia (although both currently have less hair than normal 🙂 ). Keeping doing what you do guys!

@ARNC damn man…that literally moved me to the point of eyes welling up. What a beautiful song. Beyond grateful that you shared that. I’d never heard that before.

@Mizmazzle you’re welcome! This guy’s very prolific and well known in the UK ((although not exactly mainstream). I’m not sure if he’s known elsewhere.

I listened to some Billy Strings off the back of recommendations from fellow Sturgill Fans.

Bought me back to listening to Workingman's Dead for the first time, and the great memories I associate with that record... 👌

Their live shows are hard to beat. The band has always been immensely talented and cohesive but what’s really changed as they’ve grown is adding Alex on fiddle and the level of production. I can’t imagine having a bad time at one of their performances at least based on the show.

                                      Think it, be it.

I recently asked a fun question that sparked some interesting conversation with friends: What was the single most formative year of your life in terms of albums released that year? I'm really curious to hear how people will answer—if nothing else, it’s a great way to revisit albums that had a big impact on you. For me, it was 2004. I was 17, and as a Canadian, albums like Arcade Fire's - Funeral, Chad VanGaalen's - Infiniheart, and Death From Above 1979's - You're a Woman, I'm a Machine completely transformed how my ear drums operated. I am still a young buck, but wild to think those are already 20 years old.

So much of my favorite music on the last few pages Sturgill, Billy Strings, Nick Drake, the Dead, and current favs King Gizz. The new Gizz record Flight b741 is so damn good, and it's their 26th! Very stoked for their upcoming tour...

Any of you Nick Drake fans read the recently released book "Nick Drake: The Life"? Just finished this morning, highly recommend. By far the most comprehensive look into his life. It's not necessarily a happy book to read, but it's a must for Nick Drake fans.
