@popvulture one of the only redeeming acts of the villainous charlatans was that infamous VW commercial which led to me discovering the music of Nick Drake......
-
@GraemeE I remember that ad! I think it sold more copies of Pink Moon than VWs.
-
My version of that is the Gap ad that got me into Bill Withers:

If you can access BBC Sounds this is an absolute treat.
"Live at the BBC Proms: BBC Symphony Orchestra, guest artists and conductor Jules Buckley honour Nick Drake in arrangements including Northern Sky, River Man, and Time Has Told Me"

@Mizmazzle you’re welcome! This guy’s very prolific and well known in the UK ((although not exactly mainstream). I’m not sure if he’s known elsewhere.
-
@Mizmazzle that’s so cool - hope it has the desired effect!
-
@Mickey-GT is also an educator. Bet he’d dig this song too.

Sturgill Simpson/Johnny Blue Skies - Live in San Francisco yesterday - fabulous!

Their live shows are hard to beat. The band has always been immensely talented and cohesive but what’s really changed as they’ve grown is adding Alex on fiddle and the level of production. I can’t imagine having a bad time at one of their performances at least based on the show.

I recently asked a fun question that sparked some interesting conversation with friends: What was the single most formative year of your life in terms of albums released that year? I'm really curious to hear how people will answer—if nothing else, it’s a great way to revisit albums that had a big impact on you. For me, it was 2004. I was 17, and as a Canadian, albums like Arcade Fire's - Funeral, Chad VanGaalen's - Infiniheart, and Death From Above 1979's - You're a Woman, I'm a Machine completely transformed how my ear drums operated. I am still a young buck, but wild to think those are already 20 years old.
