Subjective for sure, depending on how you want to wear it. I personally went for my same shirt size in CPO.

Really just depends on how you want to wear it. Some people go with jacket style, others more like a shirt. I tend to think of it a little more as the latter, but I’ve seen people wear them all kinds of ways and they all have worked.

Same. I wear shirt size in my cpos. That said if it was a specific material, ie leather or lined Sherpa etc I’d prolly size up for a more jacket vibe.

Why don’t you wait until the fall since we (northern hemisphere) are heading into the summer months and the days you will be able to wear a cpo will be fewer. It would give you the rest of spring, summer, and early fall to figure out where your weight is going to stabilize and give you a better understanding of what sizes you need to look for.

As mentioned, you also have to decide on if you’re going to wear it as a shirt, overshirt, jacket, etc…lots of decisions and factors and you may just need a little time to figure it all out.

@jfk1117 @Chrisjohnick @popvulture @goosehd thanks a lot for taking the time to answer. Do you find that an XL(or whatever size you wear) CPO, is usually cut close to the same fit as a regular XL shirt, or do they run a little bigger(on average), than a shirt/non-CPO in the same size? Measurements seem very similar, but is there anything about their construction that makes them tend to run a bit roomier in any way?

@Shortyshutout I'd like to offer point of advice /caution based my own experience

Once you go cpo it very well may ruin your ability to love other shirts.

I often find myself bitter after reaching to put my keys in the (nonexistent) side pockets of other shirts and they immediately fall to the ground.

@Shortyshutout because there are differences between models and even between runs of a single item, it’s always best to go off the chart. I’ve had CPOs, westerns, and work shirts in both XL and L. Depending on how I want them to fit, I look at the shoulders and the chest measurements.

@GraemeE 😂 I can see that for sure! I’m a big overshirt/shirt jacket guy. If you layer it right, you aren’t taking stuff on and off all day!

@popvulture great advice. I need to figure out the shoulder to back ratio and what it really means better. Thanks

I get the impression they are intentionally cut to be slightly more spacious than regular shirts. I can wear any of my L shirts comfortably under my L CPO, but not the other way around.

@Shortyshutout said in Question about CPO’s:

but its hard to just trust measurements when those measurements were def wrong recently.

It is highly unlikely that the measurements we post on each product page are incorrect. Do you need some help measuring?

Whatever, you will get the most useful help by contacting sales@ironheart.co.uk. They measure and advise, that is their job.

@Giles “measurements were wrong”, meaning they didn’t fit me recently after having figured out what my measurements were. My measurements(that I took time to figure out) are now wrong.

I ordered my same 3x size in the indigo Wabash cpo and asked for the biggest chest they had(Iron Shop Provisions) worked out well. Did the same with the untucked.

I have both L and XL CPO shirts. I’ve sold all the ones that don’t fit. I’ll probably size up to XXL when I go next. Think about your body. I started IH when I was 22. I’m 36 now. I’ve lifted and gained regular dad weight too. For me. I love to be active in my clothes so bigger size = more room for movement. Which for me is most important. I love putting a hoodie under a CPO too. Great for the fall and spring. But mostly I wear as a regular shirt over a T. It’s all about the measurements. It’s also about your body and your desired fit/range of motion needs. The western cpos have a very flattering shape. So if you decide to size up a little you won’t look awkward. Just make sure you aren’t wearing skinny jeans and a big top. Haha. Other than that. Everyone has given you solid advice!
