A week ago today, I had a total (Japanese Ceramic apparently) replacement of my lefty (sic) hip.
Well, a week down the road and, I am already significantly better than I was before the op. I am not in any pain (I forgot to take the drugs yesterday, and I was fine.
My range of movement is better than prior to the op, and I can positively jog up and downstairs.
Frankly, it is amazing and I am in awe of the medical team who fixed me.
I'm at the heaviest I have ever been (about 12lb above where I feel good about myself), probably because I could not do much before the op, and Paula has been rewarding me with loads of chocolate biscuits since
Physio starts in a week, so I am keen to get 100% fit again and lose those excess pounds.

@Giles congrats on a successful op! Glad it's already an improvement. Enjoy that increased mobility!

I wish you a speedy recovery @Giles! One of my aunties is the bionic woman at this point - she has an arthritic condition - and has had both hips and knees done. She'd recommend that you do everything the physio suggests; like you say, having the op done gave her a new lease on life too and makes that so much easier!

Bonitos are great fun if you are using the right tackle. But when you hook one on tackle designed for 60kg GT's or 100kg Tuna, they waste your time.....

@Giles Glad your doing great and have a great nursing aide at home, making chocolate biscuits.

When I had my Hip (H)op, I was told that after 2 weeks I would need to have the dressing removed. The post-operation notes say that I was stitched up with dissolving stitches , so I completed an online form for my local doctor. I was just phoned back:
Surgery - Is that Mr Padmore?
G - Yes (then we do the ID bit)
S - What do you need?
G - I have had a hip replacement and need my dressing removed after 14 days
S - Do you need to have stitches removed?
G - No, they are the dissolving type
S - Oh, we don't just do dressings
G - Actually, the stitches dont seem to be dissolving that well
S - Great, what time would you like to come inFFS

@Giles congrats on the successful surgery. Your 100 meter dash time will be back under 10 seconds by mid summer.
Let me know the secret if you get the lbs off. My No Lots are so tight on me right now my voice changes when I button them up.
