Wax Treasure (Vinyl)

Love these guys. Discovered them through my late friend who was their first road manager. They bought Tipitina’s, a storied New Orleans venue, and started releasing original pressings through an operation they call the Tipitina’s Record Club.
-
Man, flashback @mclaincausey ! Did you ever go see them at Muddy Waters in Jackson way back in the day? Those shows were epic.
-
@Aetas love it! I’m a huge Weller fan — do you ever listen to his solo stuff? Wild Wood is my fave, had to make sure to track down an original copy of it on vinyl. Was a bit of an endeavor.
-
@Aetas were you into The Jam? I was a big fan and lucky enough to see them live a couple of times in the late 70’s.
-
@popvulture absolutely did! Some of those were their earliest shows outside of New Orleans
-
@mclaincausey man, such good memories of those shows. Gonna have to pop that record on, been ages.
-
@IrishHeart @popvulture
Was too young to see The Jam live, but discovered them as a link between Punk, Mod/Ska and Rock in my youth.
First live experience with Paul Weller was Style Council in 86.
His solo back catalogue is tremendous and outstanding for me is also Wild Wood and Stanley Road. -
Bought these on Saturday .

@GraemeE a classic indeed - I was tempted to get it at SPECKS - but passed (it comes up often enough) - and I was really tempted to pick up an old pressing of SLEEP dopesmoker....but alas someone beat me to it after I hesitated.
-
@Inorganic said in Wax Treasure (Vinyl):
SLEEP dopesmoker
I remember reading about the "weedian" repress of that one
Great record and cool concept.....it just played like shit due to oil residue -
@GraemeE hahah someone was definitely weeded when they had that idea lolol
-
Finally picked this one up on vinyl. Probably my favorite record of 2023.
