PN-0062 - Papa Nui - Army Denim Hat - Indigo
This denim hat is Papa Nui’s take on the M1937, a unique piece that was part of the US Army denim work uniform during the 1930s. Defined by a slightly wider brim (compared to the ‘Daisy Mae’ which replaced it in the 1940s), this faithful reproduction is constructed from Japanese milled cotton, blended with linen to create slight slubs in the texture. For total authenticity, the indigo dye tone emulates the original 1940s colour, which had a slightly grey hue. This is because the indigo dye would ordinarily be processed using petroleum, but due to rationing during wartime, manufacturers were preserving resources by using synthetics which resulted in the more muted tone of indigo.

Same, I have so many hats but I do not have a denim one. Did you go with XL or L? I have a big ol' head so I chose XL.

@Oaktavia I measured my head with a fabric tape. Came in just over 59cm, so I went with Large. I hope it fits!

@Bums_Fan I think you will be good, my noggin is just over 61cm so XL was my choice. Either way, these instructions for a more custom fit may help either one of us if need be.

At Papa Nui we do more tests than Bikini Atoll and whilst we don't measure Isotopes and Gama Rays we do lots to ensure you get the best from your cap.
To custom size we follow these methods;
To stretch, cold water soak then place over knee to vigorously pull and rotate until desired sizing is achieved, normally 1-1.5cm.
To shrink, observe the Papa's pot cap soup method. Boil cap for 10 minutes, towel dry and check size, if extra shrinkage is desired place in hot clothes dryer. Maximum shrinkage is usually 1- 1.5cm.
These two tips will allow you to achieve extra sizing options outside of the medium and large size offering."

Well, where we are they call them Maldivian peppers, but they have the same heat and taste as a ghost. I was "bitching" in the restaurant about how mild the peppers they put out with the buffet as garnish are. So the cook gave me these to dry and grow some next year, if successful, I have to bring some back here
I am afraid I do not know re: the denim. I have had 4 Papa denim caps, all different types of denim. I lost 2 by foolishly popping my head above the "parapet" when motoring at speed on different boats. One time I lost a pair off Maui Jims, the other a pair of Costas which were lodged on the brim. I m a slow learner.....

@Giles That is pretty cool the cook gave you some to dry and try to grow next year. I had a Carolina Reaper (may have been Scotch Bonnet, I can't recall) plant for a couple of years that yielded more peppers than I knew what do to with. I ended up drying and crushing them up with a mortar and pestle to make a seasoning powder. Good thing I wore a mask while doing it.
No worries about the specific type of denim comparison. I was mostly curious about how these hats will fade and evolve. Bummer to hear about your misfortune with your two other hats.

This hat is super nice! Mine came in the mail yesterday. There is a beautiful texture and color to the denim itself. Crazy constructional stitching everywhere! I can already see variations in the indigo- this hat was made to fade. I will post photos when the sun comes up higher. XL was a perfect fit for my big ol' noggin'.
