I’d highly recommend reading just about anything he’s ever written, especially Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and his book on The Hells Angels. @Giles

            I’m a fan!
Ordered this as it was one of my most read soft backs and was time to replace. Now I can keep the hardcover for library/home and the beat up one can travel or go to a friend

@motojobobo Dude, that's the mark of a badass. I'm a tool, so I wear "motorcycle boots" usually and you can't really see the shifter mark, even though they're beat to hell. They don't look as cool but they work well. I can't stand riding in anything with a heel and Don't like the moc toe seam feeling on the shifter peg. Due for a new pair though, so we'll see.

@Denimhead-0 Nice! yeah TCX makes some sturdy riding shoes. I like that they can pass for casual high tops and are comfortable enough to walk a few miles to the nearest gas station when you run out of gas because you thought it was so cool to put a 1.2 gallon fuel tank on your chopper and back-up fuel bottles are for p*ssies....

Haraki wanted to try a cleaner look. He also said something about it being better for riding, but I would have thought the extra pockets came in handy, but I'm not a biker so I didn't question his logic.

@Alex For what it’s worth, I rode for 30 years and had an assortment of motorcycle jackets with different pocket configurations, and I hardly ever put anything in any pocket, and never put anything in a chest pocket.I do like the look of chest pockets, but not sure of their functionality. Curious as to what some of the other riders here think.

The only things I put in my chest pocket are the insurance, registration papers, and key to the motorcycle (when I leave it for any length of time). I also kept my passport in it on one occasion when I crossed the Canadian/US border. I find the chest pocket great for keeping important things close and easily accessible when/if needed.

Wallet is kept in my back pocket (jeans) and small bills for tolls in the side pockets. Keeps everything fairly organized that way.

Chest pocket is for the ciggies and lighter. I sometimes move my wallet there if it gets uncomfortable to sit on. I’m always grateful for jacket/shirt pockets because I like riding with empty pants pockets.

@goosehd With the advent of E-Z Pass I stopped needing toll money. All my relevant papers money/credit cards were in a wallet that over the years molded itself to my butt. Except for my Springer all my bikes have had saddle bags for any large extras. Everyone has their own system. Maybe we could/should move this discussion.

@Jett129 Great recommendation and moved the conversation to motorcycles.

I haven’t ridden with bags on the bike before and always traveled fairly light (backpack) if needed. My longest single day ride was riding from here (Ontario) to Plymouth, Mass where my wife followed me in the car with extra clothes and gear when needed.

When you sold your bike a year or two ago, was that all of them? Still have one kicking around?

My garage is empty. My longest single day ride was 740 miles from Knoxville Tenn. to Cranford,NJ on a Yamaha Roadliner. We got to the hotel about 5 and had about 160 miles to go,and we just didn't want to spend another night in a hotel.
