    You will get stretch out of the 21oz. If you cannot pinch any material standing they are too tight and will not strech enough to be comfortable. Your call..if i was you i would size one up. Post some pictures we can get a better idea about the fit.

      Let me chime in so that I can comfort and confuse you all at once! 😁

      It sounds like we might be in a similar boat. My waist is comfortable but my thigh is always tight. Not painted-on tight, but tight. Now, if you size up, the waist will be too big and you get a little more of the diaper effect in the crotch and butt areas. This is especially problematic if you like to tuck in your shirt like I do.

      The thigh does stretch. I'm having trouble finding notes for stretch on my personal 21oz indigo, but I have notes that show the thigh stretching from 12.25" to 12.75" on the IH-888S-OD.

      Obviously, it's up to you. I think that you might be unhappy with the top block if you size up. If you can try a size up without too much hassle, that might be your best bet. Just know that the 21oz denim is pretty stretchy where it needs to move.

      You could also try the 888 cut, which is what I use now, to get a tiny bit more room in the thigh, or the 1955 cut, if you don't need the taper.

      Edit -- Additional thoughts

      I should add that, in my personal experience, if the denim isn't at least a little snug on the first wear, you probably should've sized down. That's the great thing about denim, you know? It stretches to you. Each pair becomes personalized. But, it can't stretch to you if it's already bigger than you.

      That having been said, I see the styles online going to bigger and boxier fits. That's not my style but I see the appeal. If you also prefer a trimmer fit, you may want to stick with what you've got.

        That's basically it - I have a relatively narrow waist but large thighs. That, and I don't think high-rise denim works for me as I have a shorter torso so it makes me look disproportionate. My challenge is that I need to size for my thighs, and if the waist becomes too large then my jeans sit on my hips instead, which might end up producing diaper butt so I prefer lower-rise where possible. I was hoping the 633's mid-rise is a good middle ground.

        Here are some images I took. Waist is comfortable and if anything, just ever so lightly loose now that I've been trying it on a bit (hoping it won't be an issue if I always wear with a belt). The red arrows point to the part of my thigh where it's difficult to pinch any material when standing. It ispossible, but I'm only able to grab a small amount of fabric. I'm able to sit down on a chair without feeling any discomfort.

          @FireGX My $.02 is that it's too big in the waist...

              Big thigh to waist ratio dude here 👋. Tried lots of cuts. 555 a total no, 777 better but still a bit tight in the thigh, 888 better, 634 perfection. I know that the lack of taper can put people off the 634, it did for me for a looong time, but you might be surprised if you give it a try.

              That said, I don’t think your pair look bad at all, but the waist might stretch a bit more and be sloppy. Hope you find something you’re happy with!

                @FireGX maybe it's the lighting, but that doesn't look too tight in the thigh to me, and the waist may be too wide.

                Unless you're about to start a bulk, I think you may be able to size down.

                Remember, this fabric stretches a good deal, it should be tight at first.

                  Thanks everyone for the input! Now I'm worried about the waist and the thighs, haha!

                  The waist is indeed quite comfortable right now and I understand the 21oz denim might continue to stretch. Would this be prevented as I normally always wear a belt with the denim? I'm just a bit confused with sizing as I've previously taken advice to size down the waist, only to have the denim not stretch as much as I would've liked, and I'm seeing advice online that it's generally better to make sure the denim is comfortable right from the get-go. I'm sure with all sorts of fabrics, weights, loose/dense weaves, it's all a bit "your mileage may vary"...

                  Some local shops carry the 634S, which I believe the 633S is more or less the same from waist to knee, so I'll see how a size down might go. I'm just concerned that sizing down might result in the thigh to knee area being too tight.

                  I'll also check out the 888S but I'm not convinced the high rise will work for me..

                    I says 555 would be your answer or maybe 888

                      Try out the size down. 21 oz denim will stretch at least an inch in the waist, belt or not.

                          Looks like waist is too big and thighs are too tight. I don’t think it’s your cut.

                            @FireGX I get the feeling that people are running out of suggestions and you still haven't gotten a satisfactory answer, so let's try approaching this from a different angle, because if you're like me, you're waking up every morning thinking "What the hell am I going to do with these jeans?" 😆

                            Everyone is going to have a opinion on what looks good, but your opinion is the most important. With that end in mind, do you have a pair of jeans that you think look good on you? If so, can you post their waist, thigh, rear rise, front rise measurements (using the Iron Heart measurement methods)? It might be easier for us to tell you which cut and tag size might come close to those ideal measurements if we had them.

                              @Paul9221 you read my mind! I've been sitting at home with the jeans, reading everyone's comments, and thinking about what feels right to me. Thank you everyone for sharing your feedback with me.

                              I think my best fitting pair I have at home currently is a pair of Uniqlo's Kaihara denim. The measurements (IH way) are as follows:
                              Waist = 32"
                              Front Rise: 10.25"
                              Back Rise = 15.6"
                              Thigh = 12.5"
                              Knee @13" = 8.5"
                              Hem = 7.25"

                              I attached fit pics of my Uniqlo pair.

                              The 633S from SelfEdge have the following measurements currently after wearing them at home here and there, sitting around, etc for a few days:
                              Tag Size 31
                              Waist = 33.5" (note, listed size chart on SE's website says 31.5" but they don't measure the IH-way; my guess is IH-way measurement would've been 32-32.5" originally)
                              Front rise = 10.25"
                              Back rise = 14.6"
                              Thigh = 12.25"
                              Knee@13" = 8.6"
                              Hem =7.5"

                              The 633S is admittedly a little loose on the waist right now, but they're held up in place with my glutes. I aimed for a larger waist measurement than my Uniqlo pair as I need to size for my thighs, but also because the Uniqlo pair was a touch uncomfortable when sitting down at the waist button. Funny enough, despite the larger waist measurement of the Iron Hearts, they're still a touch tight when sitting down at the waist button, but I think I'm learning that this is actually due to the pair being slimmer overall in the glutes area.

                              I think if I sized down on the 633S the thighs would be too tight. I think the 888 cut in size 31 might be the best alternative from Iron Heart but I'm a bit worried they might stretch out too much; I've previously worn a couple pairs of Tanuki high tapered denim and they all end up sitting closer to my hips and sagging creating a diaper butt effect.

                              Currently, I'm leaning towards keeping the 633S and just seeing how things go as they do feel comfortable sitting around at home, even if they are slightly slimmer in the thigh to knee area. I am wondering if I am making a mistake and if the waist will keep stretching and stretching.

                                The point is kind of moot. This won’t be your only pair of IH denim. 😉

                                  Matt speaks the truth. Pretty sure that 888 or 633 is going to be the closest you can get to those measurements.

                                    Joining in to say the 888’s if sized correctly are your best bet. Personally I would take the current jeans back and trade them in on another pair.

                                      Unless you really like them. Then just add some 888s in a different denim to your rotation.

                                        @FireGX man, I think the 888 cut would be perfect for you. I'm looking at the 888Sib measurements, the 31 would give you a slimmer waist with room to stretch plus a bigger thigh. You could always order one and return it if you don't like the fit, but I have a feeling you will.

                                          Hi everyone,

                                          Thanks again for the input. I've decided to return the 633s! I was able to try a pair of 888s locally (though not in the 21oz that I wanted) and the waist was snug but I could still get the top button done. I think the thigh to knee area should be good if I get the 21oz as well (the 14oz overdye I tried seemed a tad tighter on the legs, but this makes sense to me since the knee measurement is a bit smaller per IHUK website vs 21oz. The 14oz fabric may just be more rigid as well). The butt area on the pair I tried on seemed a touch on the slim side as well but perhaps it'll work out with a bit of wear, especially if I get the 21oz indigo fabric.
